Given it's a new and perhaps THE launch colour, touring the world for closed room preview events? For dealers, country HQs and car shows etc?

IND has been selling an aftermarket one for a while now. I believe it's currently sold out. I'm sure they'll be back in stock soon. Also can be found on Ebay for much less.

https://ind-distribution.com/product?sku=IND-SSRB-F8X

Installed mine last week. Takes less than 10 minutes.

I'm curious to know this info too. I had thought the switch over from CF to steel was during November 2017 (now) but these CS won't make production until spring. If the CS does have the CF driveshaft then it's not due to making space for emissions crap but instead a cost savings strategy on the non-CS M3/M4.

Let's be honest. Regardless of price, this thing will be sold out before May 2018.

I disagree. Going to be priced in same range of new F90 and out going technology on the old F3x platform. BMW AG has their model pipeline planned 8 years out (Dirk has told me this in person), as the M Division is already at work on the G80. BMW just went into the parts bin for the M3 CS. Personally, I would purchase the F90 over the M3 CS knowing that price would be in the same range within $10-$15k.

You dont think they will find 500 buyers for this car between now and May? BMW knows that BMW customer love to have 'special' models. The F90 is just a F90. The CS will hold more value down the line. Thus, there will be a line up for the CS and not the F90.

Pretty neat.

I still see this as a outlier as far as product launches, but I am actually happy to see that there are still surprises in this day and age where almost everything is known ahead of time.
I saw the post. Just having some fun at your expense. .
Oh wow and even an apology ! nice !

Hopefully I'll hear such sweet music someday about the M2 CSL 6MT

Seeing that currently, less than 4000 M2 have been delivered in the US over a 3 year period... I think most would not argue the point any longer.

While not specifically limited to a known number, M cars typically are produced at a lower rate than what consumers would purchase them. That of course is part of what helps an M car retain value in the future.
Depends on your definition of limited. M2 is a standard production car, a quantity is not defined, they make as many as they make til the model year ends.

The M3/M4 CS or the GTS, or the new Porsche GT2 RS are limited from the start of production to x amount of units. These are truly limited by the manufacturer.

M2's are quite available now, I helped a friend look for one 6 months ago and even then we found one on the water eta 1 month at MSRP at Monrovia BMW in So Cal, a very high volume area.

:

Let's make this definition of "limited " very simple. I'm gonna use the dictionary.

lim·it·ed

adjective
restricted in size, amount, or extent; few, small, or short.
"a limited number of places are available"
synonyms: restricted, finite, little, tight, slight, in short supply, short;

Any dispute with that " definition" ?

If you can walk into ANY local dealer and put your money down on the counter and have a car in less that 6 weeks, then the car is NOT limited.
