Sounds good. Obviously it won't sound like a v8 or v10 cause it's not.

Another terrible preview IMO. The car is hardly being revved. And I hate how people continue to "defend" the sound. The whole story of a car being revved stationary won't sound good.... Yada yada is bs. There are plenty of cars that sound incredible sitting still. The E92 M3 is one of them.
Of course it won't sound as good as a V8. But to me it sounds like any other 6. It's funny how hard people are trying to find a positive, and to call it unique. Whatever helps you sleep at night... |

....It's annoying how people continue to speak disparagingly about subjective things as if they are/were definitive. Some loved the sound of the E46 ///M3, others hated it. Some loved the sound of the E9X, others didn't care for it much. There are no right or wrong answers here. If you love your E9X, keep it and enjoy it. |

Sounds like an old rotary motor! Oh well didn't plan on buying one anyway but you know how that could go if it ends up being faster than I think it will be.
Either way glad I have the new Z06 coming |

No car payment is pretty damn sweet... no car payment on an e92 M3 would be the bees knees.

N54 sounds way better... This motor has always sounded horrible from all the videos i have seen. I loved the way my 335i sounded. This sound to replace the V8 M3's amazing high revving noise is sad.

What an unmitigated piece of crap. I have a 4 stroke yard tool that sounds just a little worse than that.
This whole switch to turbos is bunch of bunk. Great, a little better fuel economy, and the ability to tune for lots more power, but the things sounds like ASSSSSS. Put an e92 M3 against that any day, or any other naturally aspirated engine. With all the money that will need to be put into mods to make this things sound remotely good and better looking, you may as well start beating path to the Corvette dealer, or to the local Porsche dealership. Lame, Lame, Lame. You are witnessing the death of an icon, a brand, and an identity. Congratulations, BMW, keep on whoring yourself out with this crap and a never-ending list of models. You didn't even have the mental acuity to not piss on the goodwill and recognition associated with the M3 as your coupe model designation. Idiots. |

I'm actually liking the sound after listening the clip 4-5 more times. It has its own character. I wouldn't say it's bad, it's just different. I have also watched a few V8 (M3) videos in youtube, I think we all need to come to the conclusion that the new car will sound different. I wish I had the financial means to keep my M3 and buy the new car, I don't. Maybe I can buy it again in the future and keep it as a collector's item who knows. Regardless, I'm still hopeful and very excited about the new car.

The E92 is not going anywhere. You can always pick one up used. Corvette will also always stay as a V8, so if you want a V8 so much, you can get one of them. |

I somewhat like it... but it does remind me of a chainsaw when listening to it through headphones.
I love the sound of my 335iS, so im sure they can extract a great sound from this engine. Looking forward to hearing it in person.

this sounds terrible, even considering that it's an i6...The N54/N55 sound substantially better; they actually change in pitch as you rev it. The S55 sounds flat when you rev it, there isn't a change in pitch as you rev it, just a change in volume (sound). There is nothing sporty about this sound; sounds boring and lazy.
With that being said, a secondary cat delete makes the N54 sound better, lets hope the S55 will sound better with a cat delete. An aftermarket muffler just changes the volume of noise, it won't get rid of that boring and lazy sound.

It's like aging right. When you are 35 years old, you can't eat and drink and get wasted like you did in college 15 years ago. You have to worry about your heart and such. You also don't look as good, you have saggy breasts and big belly. You can't run up a flight of stairs as fast and feel out of breath right away. Now you can sit and complain all day about how you are not 20 anymore or you can be happy with what you have at 35 that you didn't 15 years ago such as a beautiful daughter that gives you a hug or a wife who makes you happy. You need to find happiness in different things. It's pretty much the same thing here. The badass sounding exotic V8 is gone. It's the I6 what we have, but we have much better fuel economy. Improved interior. Tech gadgets and so on. M is an M. |
