In German. But they praise the engine and finishes off with something like: Warning to the V8 fans. The 6 cylinder is a great engine, with great sound and pull. They like the character of the engine and how it's response and rev willingness is Last edited by Boss330; 05-08-2014 at 05:17 PM.. |

So, reading through these it's all as expected when you combine them.
Blindingly fast and refined but also: - Steering feels weird on center. - Lacks enough excitement at the top end to go there. - Noticeable turbo lag. - So-so sound. As usual the opinions differ but the fact that each notions exist in at least one of the reviews make me think I need to stay prepared for it to some extent. |

I did not say many. I said opinions differ as usual but at least one mentioned it. That's enough for me to take note and prepare for it to limit too high expectations and resulting disappointment when I get my car.

overall the reviews are very much as expected. overall very high praise. only vulnerable points are:
1. turbos (though turbo lag can be minimised in sport+ mode which was already known) 2. electrical steering (which overall is still praised i would say, focus is on its precision, although clearly some people don't like the different feels of comfort, sport, sport+ and would prefer just one feel) 3. sound (and artificial enhancement). I can live with the criticism of this, but i also see how some can't. Anyway, artificial enhancement will be more and more common in the future as we move towards fully electrical cars. overall, all as expected, and the top gear one is the most balanced and honest one (not too positive, but positive enough to believe that this is a perfect car) |

these reviews are GLOWING.
I can't really read through most of this mundane auto-journalist sludge....but i've scanned through them quickly and they all seem to agree that the cars are wonderful. My only 2 fears are still (A) it's too large, and (B) it's too 'clinical'.....i just hope they have some rawness left. My 135is feels pretty damn raw all the time....the 1M was a solid notch above that in rawness....and i think the E9X M3 owners also feel that rawness. IF BMW has kept some of that rawness in the M3/M4 then it will be a very very compelling package indeed. |
