Getting back on topic...for the most part I have guys in trucks always wanting to run it against me. Guys in trucks really think their cars are fast it's hilarious.

I had some redneck-looking guy in a full-sized pickup with the big, thick exhaust pipes rising up vertically between the cab and pickup bed - and loud as hell. He was going slow in the left lane - got to a stop light and the right lane was open - so I pulled up next to him.

As soon as I did - he's revving and rearing to go - his truck is probably faster than many econoboxes - hence his false sense of confidence.

Light turned green - a few seconds later he wasn't so confident anymore...

Mercedes CLS500 (04 - 08 gen) tried to race me last night. It was 2 AM and I had a long day, so I didn't even bother but he was aggressively pushing for it. The classic accelerating, braking then putting the hazards on.

lot of people deluding themselves here imho, especially if they have a 6MT. sure if rolling, most cars on the road will not keep up, but from a stop, it's not that hard to get the edge in an odyssey for chrissake.

If Odyssey's (0-60 in 6.6s) are getting the edge on you in your F8x 6MT, it's time to switch to DCT...or maybe a different car.

If you know your F8x...and you understand how to launch / take off /modulate the clutch and throttle...how in the world are you getting edged on in your M-anual by minivans

Because we are not racing on well-paved roads. If we did stoplight races on highways; I would make fun of people too. One slight imperfection at 50% throttle will cause the traction control to cut power (light or not) Once traction is lost, you'll get dusted initially. Obvs once into 2nd gear you can say goodbye.

Why don't you turn TC off?

Because I don't others or myself to die. The people who end up wrapped around trees are typically fools who think the car is driveable on street roads with TC off. I know some of yall track your cars and shit so yall get the pass. But for someone (most of us) who have limited ability; its best to just lose.

It literally has to be 60 degrees, clean well paved and graded road, and yes Ill get 4.1 0-60. but for all these conditions to exist on the roads; especially the northeast is comical.

Plus who cares. lez be honest. most people that race me don't have a remote chance at beating me. i find it quite tiring to drive the car all amped up and redlined unless I'm in the mood.

Also the rev's drop super slow further its winter and find it a chore to drive the m3. find myself reaching for the honda pilot keys more often.

Edit: a better traction control software and wider tires will drastically reduce this swag wagon movement

We both drove off to work at the same time and ended up side by side at the stop light. On snow tires, even on dry pavement, I did not stand a chance. I did my best to maintain traction, but she just rocketed away in her RS3 and took at least 5 car lenghts on me. Quattro

I was on the way to the dealership early yesterday and a Audi S5 was looking to race. Other than a quick romp on the accelerator, I backed off pretty quickly. It is crazy how quickly these cars will reach triple digits, which at the end of the day isn't good for anyone on a public road. Might be time to look into a track day.

Hello fellas, yesterday i was going home from work, about 5:50pm, and i looked at my rearview mirror and, guess what, a white gtr, he pass me and accelerates hard, meaning something? Hhahaha, got behind him and saw a Alpha7 sticker, sounded deeper and, after a few secs, got to be next to him...so, manual mode, sport+ everything, 3rd gear, almost 50 to 55mph, and i looked at him and he wave at me, telling me, " hey, go ahead I'm in a gtr, so, i nood to him, okay, will do but as soon as i heard he floor it, my gosh, this PS2+ with Cary Jordan tune are awesome...a reel him about 2 cars....to almost 130mph...hehehehe...feels good...
Then again, a few minutes later, he didn't believe I'd have done to him, and asked for another one, and i said okay, let's go, 3 honks, about 50mph and again... another 2 cars behind me....hahahaha....
I didn't sleep well last night...hahahahaahaha

I walked one one on the freeway a couple weeks ago. Was from a roll around 35-40 and I put 2-3 cars on him and he couldn't catch up. His license plate said '5CYLNDR.' Like it was some badge of honor.

Not really a "race" for me either, but similar situations on the same day with two different 428i or 430i's where I tried to be friendly but got no love back. One on the way to work, a white, debadged, lowered, tastefully modded single exhaust (aka 28 or 30i) 4 series. I tried to look over to wave but got no response.

That same evening another white single exhaust 4 series, but with an oversized M badged and bright red rims. He was humming along in traffic as I passed him. I looked over and got no look back. That's okay, not everyone has to be social. He did a ricer flyby when his lane was moving faster than me. I tried to catch up but he was doing good finding the quick path around the traffic.... or he didn't want to be next to a badged M car?

I don't think there is any shame driving a 428i or 430i. I was happily living with a F30 328i just a few years ago, but I always admired the M cars in my travels, always gave the nod.
