Coding exhaust valves

So I’ve been thinking and messing on my computer. Wondering if anyone has an emulator for the M4’s system. I’m currently on my ship (2 weeks till vacation! &#128513 and want to play around.

My goal would be to be able to decode the throttle button so that the Sport+ setting locked the exhaust valves open at least through third gear, maybe open all the time. I don’t understand why it can’t be done so I figured I’d play and learn. Maybe someone has done it or has an explanation why it can’t be done.

Thanks!

F82 for the win!

Carly can code open, but won't stay open on restart. Like coding M settings, some things are set by default and can't be changed. You can easily keep open for free or buy a remote to open and control on command

Why dont you just unplug the fuse for the valves to make them open all the time?

I think it would be nice to be able to close every now and then. I thought it would be cool to program to be open all the time when the engine/throttle setting was on sport+ and leave the other settings alone.

The exhaust valves are controlled by the engine DME, which cannot be coded.

Only way to do this is through a tune.

Or just get a valve controller. OEM programming keeps them closed lots of the time. CG controller on OEM to start (unless you hate your neighbors) then pop them open and they stay open.

Did the same used Carly to open them up and unplugged the two connections and used electrical tape on the wire end and the connection point on the electric valve on the exhaust. Zip ties to secure the cables.

The sound is much better in normal mode(without burbles and pops) in s+ you get the burbles and pops and same sound level

Hmm. I wonder how hard it would be to attempt a tune to change that engine button for the m-settings. I don’t want to change any of the mapping, just have the valve always open in Sport+

You will have to get the ability to unlock the DME like the tuners have. You might as well just go with BM3 if all you want to do is program the valve operation.

There's an iPhone app called BimmerLink (same developer as BimmerCode), that allows for on-the-fly exhaust valve control. I use it daily, super convenient. Has 3 settings for exhaust valve: Open (locked opened), Close (locked closed), & Auto (Default function that opens and closes based on factory settings). It connects via WiFi to compatible OBD adaptors, same way that BimmerCode app connects to the car. I use this vgate one, only 20 bucks on amazon (Vgate WiFi iCar2 Auto Sleep OBDII Elm327) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XJ8DFQB..._iINoCb86DPE5Y

The BimmerLink app costs like 25 bucks but is totally worth the one time fee. Has a ton of features, but I mainly use it for the exhaust valve control. It also has ASD control on-the-fly and a variety of other features. Check it out here: http://bimmerlink.com

No, Bimmerlink is from the same designer, just different functions (code clearing, exhaust valve control, etc.).

Look into the Macht Schnell EVC, control the exhaust through the BC stalk and much more:
