MDM was so intrusive that it would flash at me when I was my steering was straight, full power, at the crest of the back straight and that the kink on the front straight. I've never had that issue with other M cars

Just a heads up I took my GTS to the dealer the other day and they checked the water injection pressures and it was low as well so they replaced the whole filter. I spoke to my service tech and he said the filter was clogged.

So how the hell are all of these filters getting clogged? Is it a problem from the factory? Can't wait to get that handled and see what the car is really supposed to be like!!

I have a theory that this could be due to break in time of pump, valves, ect. I'm sure assembly lube or some variant would have been used in this system. Hopefully getting to the 12000 mile interval is a reality after filter is changed for first time. There is just no logical reason for this to happening if using distilled water. Time will tell. Perhaps that filter should have been part of break in service. BMW is living in a hindsight realm with water injection as it is a first on production cars.

Could it be from the use of non-distilled water?

Easiest way to check is a scan tool like Carly App OBDII

I have distilled water ready to use, but have not been able to put any in yet in 1900 miles. It's going in for filter replacement this week, then maybe I can start using some. My car sat at the dealer for about 45 days total before I got it.

Unless they were sitting dry for extended periods I still have a hard time seeing how the filters could clog so quickly. This will be interesting to see how long they last for those that have had them replaced.

the day after buying the car i went out and bought 5 gallons of distilled water. a month and three tankfuls of fuel later, i've only used 3/4 of a gallon. no track time, only street driving, but some of that street driving involved...ahem, exploring the limits of street driving.
now i'm at a loss on where to store all this water! |

That seems like reasonable use to me. LOL remember when the GTS talks first began and some actually factored the nuisance and cost of water into their opinion of the GTS The only nuisance is when it is not using any

My experience has been 1 H2O tank per 5 gas tanks on the street and 1:1 on the track and the GTS is very thirsty on track so she drinks plenty water when excersised properly :-)

My water injection system works well but on three occasions, my car still was accelerating after I let my foot off the gas for 2-3 seconds. I think It could be the water injection system not shutting off and malfunctioning. The water sprays right past the throttle body. Any ideas? The BMW engineer said it's normal for all turbo cars to accelerate after you let your foot off the gas for a second. I was floored and told him thats why there is a throttle body and a blow off valve. Any ideas? Another GTS owner has experienced the same issue as well.

Replacing the filter on Pat's was not enough to fix it. Still working on a permanent solution before I take mine in. Anybody else made any progress??
