Possible to do 2020 M4 ED in April?

I'm hoping that someone familiar with European Delivery might be able to help answer my question.

I will be in Munich April 8-12. Production of the 2020 M4 starts in early March. BMW denied my 2019 M4 order and changed me to a 2020, but they have not provided me with a possible European Delivery date yet.

Will I be able to take delivery while there on my already-scheduled trip?

Comes down to your BMW Center's allocation. March 2019 should have been released already. Also, BMW NA ED requires the signed paper work 30 days prior to ED date. Considering it's the last MY of production— less demand prior to the one off special editions; hopefully no individual options, I feels it's doable.

OP: Don't let your dealer "singe" your paperwork, I'm not sure that will be acceptable.

As Ibiza states, it boils down to whether your dealer has an M allocation. Usually, you need to start the ED process 4-6 months in advance and make sure that your dealer has an M allocation several months out. With a high-volume dealer this usually won't be a problem, but lower-volume dealers have to wait longer for their allocations.

This is the guideline for a "standard" order, add more time for any Individual options, such as paint or upholstery.

We started the process in November 2017 for a May 2018 Euro Delivery with both Individual paint and upholstery, but the dealer didn't get their M allocation until February. As a result, there wasn't enough time for the Individual upholstery and BMW wanted to delay delivery until June. We were going to go to the Monaco Grand Prix, but pushed delivery to July so we could attend the German Grand Prix instead.

To add to the above, we had an end of July production week and picked up in mid October.

To add information to this, I ordered and signed paperwork for a 2109 M4 in December for my ED delivery date of April 9th, Two weeks ago BMW denied my order and switched my order to a 2020. From what I can find production of the 2020 doesn't start until beginning of March, that only gives BMW 35 or so days to fulfill my order.

This M4 is nothing special, Comp Package, Exec package, Manual gearbox, cloth seats, Yas Marina (its the only blue), nothing individual.

I might not get a car when I'm in Munich, probably have to rent. My dealer should have known this. BMW should have kicked the order immediately. There is blame all the way around.

If I don't get allocation tomorrow, Feb 8th. I will be cancelling the order and re-evaluating all of the comparable vehicles.

This time around, the first question should be "Do you have an open allocation for an M4?". If not, keep looking for a dealer who does.

I'm guessing that there's not a lot of Wisconsin BMW dealers that are high-volume dealers and sell a lot of Ms. You may have to expand your search. If you're doing an April ED, you could order your car from any US dealer and also choose Performance Center Delivery in South Carolina. The car will arrive here in June/July and then you can have another road trip driving your car back to Wisconsin.
