F80 M3 width with mirrors folded?

I searched this fine forum and google and couldn't find this measurement so could you guys please help a potential M3 owner a bit.

I'm looking into getting into a '15 M3 but I have a pretty small garage where I live. I previously had B8 Audi S4 (published width of 72 inches) and I know that f80 M3 is 74 inches wide but I need the exterior measurement folded mirror to mirror so I could figure out if I could fit the M3 with folded mirrors through my garage doors that are 88 inches wide.

Even better, if anyone from this forum with f80 M3 lives close to Riverdale/Bronx I'd pay you for gas and I'll treat you a lunch if you stop by so we could try and park (very slowly and carefully) your M3 inside my garage and confirm that it fits. I need to figure this out before I plunk $40k on a beautiful '15 Yas Marina Blue M3 with stick (I wanted an M3 my whole life and can finally afford a used one).

Thanks in advance all.

Ahh you messaged me! I sent you the width of my garage.

I’ll fold my mirrors tonight and will send you the width.

The unfolded mirror-to-mirror dimension is 80.2", and they fold by about 2.5" on each side (a bit more on the passenger side). So it is about 75" for the folded positions.

I want to say that with the mirrors folded the widest point is the rear wheel arches, which measures 1877mm (73.9in). The most in depth dimension information is in the tech info pdf. If your garage opening is 88 inches wide you should have no problem pulling in either way.

Sounds like you have enough room even with mirrors unfolded. But coming from an E90 I was surprised at how the F80 feels bigger esp forward looking at corners. My manhattan underground ramp is pretty narrow turn and wasn't a big deal in E90 but stresses me out in F80. I end up relying on top view camera more and have left mirror pointed down to ensure I don't curb left rear wheel.

You may experience same vs audi.

Thanks so much guys, this all helps a lot. I'm going to test drive it this week Wednesday or Thursday and if all lines up I'm might be getting into this beautiful M3:

https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ckType=listing

By the way, here's my garage, it's pretty narrow, I had to fold my S4's drivers mirror to be able to fit through (I now have '16 Mini Cooper S, amazing little car, loaded with all the options, love it).

You better get an F83 and leave the top down to get in and out of the car.

He he, you know I was looking into one, they all look great to me (all F8x's) but I believe I read somewhere that it's some 400-500lb heavier than F80/82 and plus I think I'm not going to pull the roof down that many times during the year. But yea, if that was the only way I could have one in my garage I'd get it! :-)

If the fit is so tight that you have to fold the mirrors to get the car into the garage, how are you gonna exit the car once it's parked?

Garage door is always narrower than the bay it's installed in. The picture also shows the same. It will be tight though, no doubt. OP, you've probably already taken precautions against scratches (is that foam padding I see on the wall?), but a good method is using a pool noodle (those soft things kids play with in pool) cut in half, lengthwise, to create two strips, and then sticking each on either side of the wall by the doors.

Exactly and thanks for the tip, I might be adding those. I used to park as close to the passenger side with my Audi S4 and I always had enough room to open the door and get out/in but since the M3 is 2 inches wider I'm a bit worried. These were storage shacks converted into garages and entrance to mine is a bit obscured bu the neighboring garages to the right so I pretty much have to park it in reverse. It's a pain but I'm paying three times less for my garage because of that and finding a parking like this in the Bronx/NYC is crazy tough and expensive. I just wish I knew someone with f80 M3 that could stop by so we could 'test fit' the car in my garage so I don't spend $40k on an M3 that I can't park into it. :-(

From what I can tell the mirrors folded are parallel to the rear fenders, which are the widest points of the car. So if your rear fenders clear (73.9 in) you should have no problem

The width is all in the arches the central body of the car is the same width as a standard 3er it's not 1877mm wide all the way down, so that coupled with the widening of the garage should mean you'll be OK to squeeze out.

take the car to your house for the test drive. Talk to the dealer i'm sure they will accommodate you to make a sale.

Yeah, even if it did fit, getting in and out of that would annoy the hell out of me.

I’d stick with the mini. Or a 240, but that would still suck in that garage. Door might be too wide to get out of. If an S4 fit then maybe a 340?

Trouble with that is the new "G" Series is even wider, hard to imagine but true.

Thanks sooo much man, I'll PM you now. I'll pay you the gas and lunch no problem.

And thank you all for your replies. I was able to park my B8 S4 in reverse easy and get out of the car pretty easy too but M3 is 1.9 inches wider and that is a bit of a concern. It's just that I've been wanting an M3 for the last 25 years or so and can finally afford one (used) and there's no chance of me getting a bigger garage in my building complex (or cheaper for that matter since I only pay $100 a month, can't find that anywhere else in the neighborhood). And I kind of don't want to park it on the outside lot and have to deal with the snow cleaning and other elements (plus it's $300 a month too).

Anyways, thank you all again.

Good luck man! Have you looked at the M2 Comp or M2? They are 78.3" at the rear hips.

If the doors are wider than the M3 then it might be just as difficult to get in and out of. Downside of coupes. Would probably give just as much trouble as the M3.
