Talking Review of Emmanuele Design eMMOTION Lowering Springs

I've been running these springs for a few months now, and feel that I have enough seat time to post a review. I've known the guys at Emmanuele Design for a few years, and they had reached out to me to see if they could use my car to develop lowering springs for the M3/M4. Since I had planned to send my PSS10's out for rebuild anyways, the timing couldn't have been better.

Fast forward to post-install, my thoughts on the ride quality is that it feels very similar to stock. Freeway dips, road imperfections, etc. all pose no problem. One issue I've had with lowering springs in the past is that they made noise, either at low speeds, slow turning of the wheel, or quick inputs. I was pleased that these springs make zero noise under any road circumstance (steep driveway, etc.). I was told that this was due to the linear design, and the coils not contacting each other.

Even though the springs feel like stock comfort, I was happy that I do not experience any additional rubbing at the new height. This was a concern with my wheel and tire specs, but am happy to report that it is a non issue. One added benefit I did notice is that the rear end feels much better over bumps, train tracks, etc. Perhaps this is due to the spring rates they chose, but in my opinion the car feels more planted as in stock form I felt that some road imperfections caused the car to bounce/pogo.

The drop is also very even from the tire to the fender, one of the reasons I originally went with coilovers. I was not a fan of the sag look where the rear looks lower than the front. We could not get before and after on my car since I had coilovers, but I am told that the drop is around 1.3" front and 0.9" rear versus stock. I'd say the current fender to ground is a touch higher (maybe a tenth of an inch or two) than where my coilovers were set. Overall, very happy with where the car sits currently.

In short, I am very happy with these springs. They really do feel like a stock setup, and I imagine you can put your significant other in the car and they wouldn't realize you modified the suspension. That's a win in my book

Here are some photos of my car, taken when it was at Emmanuele Design:

Thanks for the review. I'll add to the MASTER LIST.

One thing to note. The drop on the F80 is 1.3" front and 0.3" rear.

I believe that is on the M3. They state differently for the M4.

Yes. F80 is 0.3" rear. Your F82 is 0.9" rear.

F80 M3 rear fenders are cut a bit lower than M4's. So you don't have to lower to the rear of the M3 as much to visually level it out.

After many installs of these springs on our client's cars...it's safe to say we are only hearing more and more positive feedback. Great work by Emmanuele Design!

I'm running these springs on my F80 M3.. ride quality is OEM, the height is dead on and the price is right. Coming from having 20 lowered cars in the past I couldn't be happier with my ED Springs.

Hi there,
I'm thinking about buying these as I want as close to stock as possible. I'm just waiting to see if there are anymore reviews or if anyone else is taking the plunge??

From my experience, I'd say you will be very happy if that is your goal. I recall there being a number of guys in the Facebook group who had posted similar reviews.

I agree! I love my Emmanuel springs. I have had them for a few months and i could not be happier. They feel very similar to stock and i have had no issues with noise or reliability. The best part is the drop. They stance on the car is nearly perfect!

Here are some of my pictures that they took once the springs were installed

Sorry if this is veering a little off topic, but I'm planning on getting these springs and have also been looking at aero parts.

Just wondering if anyone has tried these springs with a more aggressive lip (i.e. Vorsteiner/Varis) and how their experience has been.

Some pics of my zcp m4 with ED springs and 15f/12r spacers. Looks awesome but the ride is definitely rougher and hearing some rubbing here and there. Will get the firmware update and see how I feel about it.

Car looks great but yea, most lowering springs ruin the smooth factory ride. Price to pay for looks I guess.

True. I had H&R OE Sport springs on a b8 s4 and it rode beautifully. Wondering if the AC Schnitzer springs are a better match for this car.
