YMB owners... baby blue?

I've had my ymb M3 for a couple of years now, and it gets a lot of attention, questions, sometimes unwanted. But I cannot stand when someone goes "what color is that, baby blue?" No. It isn't baby blue! Just wanted to rant. I'm positive some of you others have gotten it too.

I mean I don't think the normal public would know what "Yas Marina Blue" or even know where or what Yas Marina is.

Unwanted attention only comes from people who are jealous.

I have other M4 owners tell me "Damn, I wish I ordered a louder color."

It basically is baby blue but Porsche and Lamborghini has very similar colors. Even Civic TYpe R, Corolla hatchback thing, VW golfs and Mustangs have similar colors.

Non car people don't get it. Mexico, Miami, Rivera, Yas Marina, etc. they have no clue just ignore them.

Take a deep breath and just say yeah sure is and then drive away with a smile on your face.

I wasn't saying that people don't know what the color is called, of course they don't. I'm saying that baby blue is a light powder blue. it's like calling lime green hunter green.

Baby blue is probably the closest "known" colour they can associate with our car. I hear people calling Porsche's Miami blue as baby blue too. Simple people ..what can I say

I get similar comments on my white car, they always ask if it's white. My response is NO, it's Alpine White. The nerve of people.

They just don't know; enjoy the attention. Then bore them to death with an exhaustive explanation of the Abu Dhabi Yas Marina Circuit association and that only this generation M3/4 got this color, its unique, blah blah blah - that's usually punishment enough for their transgression.

I occasionally get the baby blue comment, but...the vast majority ask "what color is that?" "is it factory", "is it wrapped?" or just really nice general comments on the car. Then I bore them with the above!

If I didn’t know it was YMB, I would call it baby blue also. Shouldn’t have gotten the color if you can’t take a little attention.

People love YMB, they LOVE IT. Over the past 4+ years I've had more conversations start from randos over the color than you could imagine. It's the best damned color for this car outside Miami Blue.

It also never gets dirty which is bonus points x100.

I didn't have the guts to spec YMB for my daily, but whenever I see one in the wild, it always makes me smile.

"Smurf Blue" is what I've heard many refer to it as.

To be fair, I'm a "car guy" and more specifically a "BMW guy", but I only know some BMW blues.
I wouldn't expect anyone to know the name of the colour specific to a brand. Most people I know say that they saw a baby blue M4 and that it's the best colour they've seen on a car, and I know what colour they are talking about. I wouldn't get upset over it, the very most I may tell them that the actual colour is called YMB...

I get comments on YMB almost every time I drive it. Some of my friends joke about it being baby blue but it seems like most people really like the color.

The past three cars I've owned have been blue, and those colors have gotten the most compliments of the 70+ cars I've owned.

My interior is Sakhir Orange, but everyone calls it red, because that is what it looks like. When someone calls it Baby Blue, it is because that is what it looks like. All you can do is change how you react to it, since that is the best control you have. Just be gentle and tell them the name assigned by the company that made your kick ass car is Yas Marinas Blue and explain the racing heritage significance of the name. I went with Silver Stone II exterior. I get a lot of positive comments about the "silver" and "red" combo. I have a blast talking about the real names of the color.

Oh you mean it's painter's tape blue
