Spun crank hub

Spun my crank hub yesterday, need to drive like 90 miles to the dealer, do you guys think that can damage my car a lot worse? If I baby it the whole way there?

Flatbed it. If you have warranty call the dealer and ask what to do, so you don't make things worse. If it slipped a little it can slip more.

If tuning think about adding a CBC for protection up to 550hp, or a full hub fix if going higher. If you're not tuning then driving stock is fine too, as long as you have warranty.

Sorry to hear about this. Do you mind sharing the details of your car(tune+mods) and how it happened? For informational purposes.

Would you drive 90 miles on a flat tire? If your car is running outside of the proper timing you are going eat the valves and cause significant more damage. Why would you even ask if it's safe to drive? If you are out of warranty get AAA Plus and have it towed.

Get it over to Kies in Hammonton to have it re-timed and do a CBC or Hub fix.

Flashing back to stock still leaves traces that BMW will detect. Sorry, but there's no such thing these days of flashing the DME and then reverting back to stock without a trace.

There are a couple of YouTubers that had tunes and mods on the F8x and spun, the dealer took care of it under warranty. Two that come to mind; Blakes Garage and ArianM3.

If it's a simple re-time and no major broken parts, I don't think the dealer would have any problems with it but definitely YMMV.

If flashed pointless to go to the dealer, they will charge double what most shops charge for the repair and it may spin again. Just find a indy BMW shop to do a pinned hub for you!

Check the dates on those videos... Its the reason why BMW is cracking down on tunes now... They figured out how to detect tunes, so they dont have to repair engines that were voided by a tune. Retiming an engine is a lot of work. LOL they charge close to 1K to replace spark plugs.

Yes. However they would have always dug if it was a question of them paying for a new engine.
