Same here but did regular XPEL on CF roof, headlamps, front lip and trunk spoiler.

After seeing how terribly the lower part of my car has been f**ked by stone chips in only a few months, I'll be getting PPF after I get it resprayed.
Wish I did this as soon as I bought the car. Bought Tommy L Garage mudflaps too. Shipping them to NZ was a bit pricey but waaaay cheaper than respraying the stonerashed areas will be... In NZ they use grit on the roads in the winter on the south Island, and I roadtripped my M4 in the middle of winter... |

I've purchased the car and had the whole car PPF'd since I'll be keeping the car long term. Had the car ppf put on under a few months of ownership. NJ roads are the worst for rocks and pots holes. Not including vandalism when parking the car in unknown neighborhoods.
It's well worth the investment if your planning to keep the car, if it's leased , don't bother as you'll be giving the next owner an added bonus. |

I traded my 2015 M4 on a 2019 M4 with the Expel on the front end.
I would have never paid for the Expel film but it was there. It’s crazy, it cleans really easy including track rubber marks.

For what it's worth, this is the 1st car I opted to apply both PPF + a coating and any subsequent purchases will follow suit. It's not cheap but IMO, worth every penny and can't hurt the depreciation curve. I wouldn't cut corners and do your homework in the region specific forums for shops & products. 2018 F80 - XPEL & Ceramic Pro top of the line offerings. 2016 GLE AMG 63s - No PPF...only GTECHNIQs top of the line offering (only available via a certified detailer) PM if you would like + detail or have questions. |

I bought my M3 with PPF already on it, it turned out to be a BMW Performance Driving School track car and I guess they put PPF on all of those. Does anyone know what kind of PPF they use and if it's good quality?
Also, the car has a decent sized chip on the hood which actually made it past the PPF and chipped some of the paint off too, what is usually recommended in this situation? Replace the hood film entirely? I assume that will leave a bubble over the paint chip, and I'm not sure how easy it is to take off.. Is there a way to patch just that one spot on the existing film? |

Yes. Have Stek on high traffic areas. Entire front end, hood, front quarter panels, A pillars, side skirts, rear quarters, rear bumper. The cost is less than a font end (bumper only) re-spray!

^^Glad you don't have a front lip, the lip would be a goner!
Car looks good on LM's.

if it was my DD i would. But mines not so i dont really see the point. Dr. Colorchip works well enough. Plus im silverstone so you cant' really see swirls/dirt. On a black car ppf saves you a ton of time with detailing since it self heals. its something to consider if you're a detail freak.
And the money difference on resale between a few rock chips is minimal. people care more about options, color, mileage, etc. I had it on my 458, debating on doing it again with my GT3. while it does save you from chips... if you don't have an expert facility do it you will find dust/bubbles under the bra, edges peeling after a year or two, or areas where you can see the edge of the wrap because they did not tuck it around the panel.

I don't have PPF and don't intend to get it for any future cars. I feel cars are made to be driven and enjoyed, and while I like to take care of mine, I'm not going to obsess over rock chips. Most buyers won't pay any extra for a car with PPF. When I was considering a couple of used F80s, a dealer tried to highlight the front end PPF on a car they were selling and it meant nothing to me. I don't think their price was any higher because of it.
I just can't fathom doing PPF on an entire car and then ceramic coating it. At what point does it stop? Soon someone will come out with another coating to protect the ceramic coating To each their own and I can understand the convenience and desire to keep the car pristine, but it's frankly not worth the cost to me. |

Big fan of PPF/ceramic. For me, walking out to blemish free paint every time I drive or wash the car really adds to the ownership experience. Did PPF when we bought my wife's 2018 5 series and it does not have a single scratch or chip...literally looks like it just came off the showroom floor. Did PPF/ceramic on my black Porsche and I would never have a black car without it because in addition to keeping the paint perfect it makes washing and drying the car soooo much easier. I just bought a SO M2c and am getting PPF applied as I write this.
I wouldn't make the same investment in a honda accord, or a leased vehicle, or a car you don't plan on keeping for a while, but definitely recommend for a car you care about. |

Is the CQuartz Reload Spray made by a company called CarPro? Where do most of you guys get it? Amazon?
I recently added the front bumper, front fenders and mirrors with PPF. Now I essentially have the full front. As a newbie to PPF, I did not know that imperfections in the paint (even if not to the level of chips) become more evident with PPF. I'm doing the rear quarters next, but there will be a lot of imperfections by then. I'm getting the TLG mudflaps and also want to regularly spray the reload to minimize damage. I currently use Nanolex SiSplash. Do most of you guys think the Reload is better? Thanks!!

From Long Island, NY. I had mine wrapped by Mackies Detailing, they did an amazing job and truly stand-up folks. I just bought my 2015 m4 convertible mineral white, surprisingly the paint was pretty amazing for a 5 year old car with 50k miles. I didn't plan on wrapping it, but the OEM PPF over the rear quarter panel was yellow and looked horrendous, plus my alpine white m235's front bumper was covered in rock chips in 4 years of ownership.
Front bumper, fenders, headlights, full hood, and entire rear quarter panel wrapped, instead of the little OEM patches. STek with ceramic coating,10 year film. I highly recommend them for their work and prices, I called for quotes for 5 different shops in Long Island, and Mackies Detailing beat them by a landslide. |
