2018 MY F82, build 5/30/2017 (no touchscreen iDrive). Dowloaded update 09041, but no luck...

Same here. 2018 F80. Build date 6/18. No go on updating to 9041. Question - does the USB stick needs to be a specific format? I used a 2GB stick formatted with FAT file system. Put the file in the root directory, only file there but I did it on a Mac. Do I need to do it on Windows? I ask because Macs tend to create hidden directories that isn't shown on a Mac but shows up on other systems.

For my VIN it says my current version doesn't exist...

I use a split screen with Navigation on the primary (left) screen and entertainment on the smaller (right) screen. That means with my iphone connected with USB, I see the song that's playing on the smaller idrive screen. I think the only way to go to the next song (without using the iphone itself) is to press the steering wheel button to show songs on the HUD and scroll to the next song (or whatever song I want) and then press that button.

That worked until this latest software update (5081) - now the HUD shows the current song in the middle, above it a right arrow to go to the next song (but no title showing) and below it a left arrow to go back a song (but again no title showing) - frustrating to not be able to see the waiting song titles in the HUD.

Any better way to navigate songs?

Just downloaded UPD09032(122megs) and updated ID6 on my M4 2017.

Now read TB- 003.012.032; MB-003.008.011 ; HB-006.007.032. I beleive that TB stands for Telephone, MB for Media but what is HB or HMI? Anyone knows?

Tried this twice with 2 diff. file downloads but no luck..... It's downloading a file named UPD09031.bin that is 90.3 MB in size. Same file gets downloaded whether I enter my 2018 M4's VIN or my wife's 2017 X5 VIN.

Could it be that BMW is erroneously not providing me with the correct file to update my car? or is it something else that I might be doing wrong?

The release notes for this update say that it has better support for iPhones and many bug fixes so I would really like to install it.

Site says UPD9042.bin is available for my 2018 M3 but car says it's not compatible. Never found a compatible one all this while!

... I retrofitted the 8.8" touchscreen in my car approx 8 months ago so I am curious what the HMI update did for the touchscreen. I just upgraded my cellphone from iPhone 6s to XR and was thinking about trying to update again. But so far my new phone is working fine and my I-Step is from Nov 18 so I am tempted to just leave it alone...

I just updated my 2018 m4 with the UPD9042.bin download with no issues. Not sure what exactly this update did everything seems to work the same. It only seemed to update the Phone and HMI and not change the media. wish I took a screenshot of the original version numbers but phone went up to 006.002.xxx and HMI went to 006.007.xxx. media same 006.001.xxx.
