Surprised there are no dyno charts on this yet. Thought that by now there would be. Looking forward to seeing some and see just how beneficial this back-end flash is as I'm interested in doing it.

Schedule has been packed and people are still wrapped up in the holidays.

We start opening up again after the new year, I'm sure we will be seeing some piggyback-equipped cars getting the backend flashes soon.

It's unfortunate I am not close to your hq. I would have volunteered my car for testing and preliminary dyno figures long ago

After flashing, will serve as a new elevated starting point to better target AFRs. All tuning is still performed by the piggyback (or JB4 in your specific case). The Backend flashes are very common on the N54 side as a new starting point for those making big power. To reiterate, the backend is not a flash tune, but serves as an elevated platform for those running piggyback controllers.

Here's a good description of a backend flash from the N54 side:

For FULL control over torque management, boost and fueling, you will need to remove the piggyback and go with a flash based tune instead. For those running piggybacks, this is the next step allowing the DME and piggybacks to work better together and bringing the S55 to the next level.
Any possibility for the f series N55 BEF?

Yes, there is a Backend Flash for N55 also. Details can be found on our website or feel free to shoot me a PM.

Was going to comment the same thing. People had been asking for back-ends for a while now. This gets released, no dynos, doesn't seem like they're flooding with inquiries. Maybe people are still waiting for a home solution like on n54? Don't know, but I'm still super curious on the before/after back-end dyno is with a jb4. I'm sure this is a fantastic tune as they have great flash tunes as well.

I am curious as well but there is not a lot of information regarding this yet.
ESS does their testing and development in Norway.
I know this because I had an issue with my ESS tune and their main store in Arizona had me contact their tuner which lives in Norway.

Not to say their "back end flash" doesn't work but to say it will work with all piggy backs is probably jumping the gun until some proven detailed results can be shown and more then just HP and TQ gains.
For example, the Dinan piggyback is way more complex then a BMS stage 1.
How will it affect the Dinan tunes parameters ?

I'd like to see some detailed results rather then just going off from 1 of their dealers posts selling a product.

We don't sell JB4s, so we would need a JB4-equipped vehicle to flash and dyno in order to show results. The ESS Backend flash on its own will not provide any performance gains, it's simply an elevated platform within optimum levels for the for the JB4 to work from. The Backend Flash on its own will not provide any gains, this is intentional so there is no interference with the piggyback or fighting between the JB4 and DME.

The ESS Backend Flash will keep the AFR targets in the optimum range allowing the JB4 to work from and do what it needs to do to make optimum power. Power gains will be determined based on criteria like hardware modifications, MAP and octane.

Backend flashes are here, now it's time for the piggybacks to step up to the next level.

The last car that came with ESS E-Tronic upgraded to a full flash. No JB4 takers.

Oh I was more joking saying you should put it on the shop car to show us what it can do! I know you guys run full flashes

Are there any "piggy back" style harnesses that you have used the ESS backend flash with ?
If so, is there any feedback from vehicle owners with their results on how the car performed before and after ?

I'm assuming you want to hear feedback from JB4 owners, none have yet stepped up.

If it was suitable for me to ship my ecu out I would have already done it. If there's some way to have a local tuner in MA/NH do the work then I'll get it done. Just can't be without the car..unfortunately it's my only one lol
