Just sold my F80 M3. Considering a low mileage certified C7 vette in manual to replace the BMW with for spirited weekend drives. Thoughts on how they compare and contrast? I've never driven a Corvette but wow watching YouTube reviews has me amped up. I should be able to find a nice certified one in the low $50s. Was considering a Cayman 718 instead but they are low to mid 60s and prob too much of a step down in power. My budget is only $55k. This would be a 1yr car until I order a G87 M2.

If you like German engineering with strong brake feel, heavy steering, direct steering and high speed stability - i think you will not be that impressed with C7.
Its not a precise machine at 10/10ths, its more of GT car with loud engine and cool styling. It does give u good value for the $$$ but its not as sharp as M3 imo. It does ride much better if u get one with the magneride suspension. I would recommend 911 or Audi R8 over C7. |

That said, with just $50k I don't think you're going to find anything but maybe a base stingray. I'd rather have a C6 GS than a stingray looks wise though the interior is pretty crappy on them. Had a 97 C5 and an 06 C6.

Think it's a great idea as a bridge car. Manual and V8 will definitely entertain for a year, values should be stable. Grab a Z51 pack, if you can.
I've said this elsewhere, my perception is C7 and C8 could be equal generation, different models. C7 is aging really well. Will always have a strong following and market.

I bought a 2017 C7 new and had it for 3 years. I added an exhaust/x-pipe before swapping for a used F82 M4. I'd say the C7 was more fun of a car to drive generally (sound, power - atleast stock, cockpit feel, open-air feeling, etc), but agree the build quality isn't great. With only 16k miles, it was starting to show wear - interior (speaker rattles, smudges, leather fading) and mechanically - clunking of rear axle/clutch noises luckily all fixed under warranty before selling to the new owner.
For your situation, I think you'll definitely enjoy it for a year to hold you down as its a fun car once you add an exhaust as its too quiet stock for me personally.

Think about what dealer is near you too. Not a lot of fun to take Corvette to Chevy dealer that does not see a lot of them. But if you live next to a volume Corvette dealer the service experience is great.
I learned this quickly when I moved away from being next to volume dealer. My ownership experience soured quickly. Not sure where the comments on performance on the limit or vagueness come from. If you take it to the track the Corvette is a far more performant machine. |

I love the c7. The v8 rumble, the fact that it feels like a real purpose built sports cars. However they are super overpriced right now. They are trading at near new MSRP. Just a few years ago they were practically giving away new C7’s. If you’re only keeping a year you might now get burnt too bad, but I worry about prices crashing post covid and c8 supply catching up. A new z51 c8 is only $70kish after all.
