Codes thrown by stage 1 jb4

Let me start off by saying the bms intakes do not fit correctly. After I installed them, I could tell the M wasnt running the same. Mods are bms intake, jb4, borla secondary cat delete. The codes I got are 1181 (o2), 0111 (IAT), and 8001 (o2). I never had an issue with the cat delete and jb4 so my guess is the intake has a leak and is throwing off the iat and thats messing with the o2's.

Your thoughts?

Hi,
Unless you got a defective unit, you are doing something wrong with the install.
I recommend you send pictures to BMS.

Also get a code reader to check out the code, this will save you a lot of time instead of trying to guess what is wrong.

Note: Jb4 is stage 2+ only. You have a JB stage 1

Those are not BMW code numbers. Read codes via the JB4, not an OBDII reader.

I was about to pull the trigger on the BMS intake kit. Does anyone else on the forums have this intake installed with good results? ie. no fitment and/or performance issues?

Intakes provide zero gains in power, simply noisemakers. Save your money.

Gains are not huge but what you get depends on the the details. Primarily on the intake and tuning aggressiveness. Running JB4 with aggressive absolute target maps it's easy to pickup 5-10whp with a higher flow intake. With milder load based maps gains are going to be smaller or nonexistent.

Due to the filter media only. Exact gains can be had for a fraction of the cost with a set of BMC filters in stock airboxes.

With the carbon filter removed, if you are going to keep the stock airbox, the factory filters outflow the piping. Little reason to spend money on drop in filters for this one. If you are going to spend money the K&Ns are inexpensive and available everywhere.

Mike
I read the codes with the jb4 app and searched for the definitions. Car seems fine with the stock intake now. Running map 3, no codes.
