No more Mercedes coupes

I was considering a new AMG C63 coupe but I guess maybe not. Unless they will allow you to do a European delivery on one and then bring it over, but I'm assuming not

But I don't want an SUV. I mean, I have one. I have a Jeep, but I want a coupe. ☹️

New C63 coupes still available. Why not grab a '20?

The only Merc coupe that I'd like to have in the garage. slushbox and all.

They are nice but I hate to buy the last model year when the new and exciting stuff is coming out. Even though apparently not new and exciting AMGs. That V8 sure is nice though. Considered one of the new Corvettes, my parents have one on order, but not sure that is exactly the best daily driver and a little too in-your-face sports car for me for daily use.

Oh God, why was it not obvious from the start that building 36 different, marginally different models was not a sustainable strategy? Can someone forward this press release to BMW?

Yea, they did have a few, but they could at least keep 1 or 2 nice coupes. BMW could certainly slim their lines down a tad.

Aha. BMW execs might be able to sell more 4 series models than they thought.

Rumor has it a "CLE" coupe will replace both the C and E coupe as one model (like the old CLK). Whether or not this is true, or if it will come to the US is still a question.

Even with the 20's being the last model year, if you want a compact V8 coupe, they are one of very little choices out there. Shame that the SUV craze drove them to this, luckily we'll still at least have the next SL and GT (which will share a platform), although its gonna be a lot of $$$.

I never understood sedan based 4 or 5 seat coupes. All of the weight of a sedan or wagon and none of the practicality to offset.

Get the 2 seats sports car AMG GT, or get E63 wagon, in my opinion

Bias alert: I chose f80 and not f82 or f84

Yep, sedan preference here as well, but they only seem to put the roll cages and wings on the coupes, so I get baited...

Can you remind me what comes with a roll cage from the factory in North America these days? Does m4 gts come with its cage in our market? Or is it all “import cage from eu and install”

Props to you for having the budget to competition modify a brand new street car for your W2W competition toy.

GTS did come with the cage for the U.S. One of the things they did right for sure.

Thanks bud, but used price + corrective mods I'm still nowhere near what owner 1 paid. Probably still short of highly specced and/or individual F8X ZCP MSRP, actually... So, feels like a steal to me.

Absolutely. Buying used is the way to go for completion cars.

I was super tempted by a $76k lightly used m4 gts myself

Wow, it just says so much about how little I care for amg sedan based coupes that I would rather discuss the m4 gts.

Sorry for the thread drift OP. Hope your parents buy you a c63 coupe

lol. Here's an image to get back on track. All AMG threads eventually degenerate anyways, somebody has to take the lead

Why would my parents buy me a C63? I'd buy it myself, but it's not going to be available. That's my frustration and basically the point of the thread.

Oh, it’s because you mentioned your parent’s vette order. A clutch move would be be get them to order a car you are more interested in.

I thought c63 is going to be a hybrid 4cyl? No wonder amg is not going to offer in USA. They know most people will point and laugh, except for the people who order c43 thinking it’s a real amg

I just saw ads with 2016 amg gts with 10k miles for sale for $75k. Basically the cost of a c63 coupe. So you have options to express your amg love

This is their 3rd or 4th Corvette so I think they are pretty set in their ways with those. Yes, the rumor I'd heard was that the C63 was going to a 4cyl, but I guess it's not a moot point. They will only know over in mandated fuel efficient Europe. Wasn't the I8 a 3cyl? No one laughed at them, except when they watched someone less agile try and get in and out of one.

I don't know if I have AMG love or not. The current models are nice, but I was looking forward to seeing what the new ones had to offer. I guess I'll have to hope the new 4's look less hideous in person. I wouldn't have even considered jumping brands until Dukec came along.

Still hoping the next c63 will have a V8 or at least I6, but not really into the new touchscreen interiors from the next S class that the C class will receive. Probably better off with the current W205 C63, or like someone else suggested, a used AMG GT.

Well, I personally always chuckle at i8. I can’t help but think it’s a straight up poser car with mid engine super car shape and super car doors but weak economy car engine sound and family sedan caliber acceleration potential.

Just my $0.02 as an armchair QB but i8 in its current form should never have existed. Stick that power train in 330e, and make an m8 mid engined m8 with s55 + bigger turbos.

I’ve enjoyed the amgs owned by friends and family since the c43 days but the V8 sounds from a buttoned down sedan (or wagon) was always the appeal for me

I’d take an i8 design with the s55 or s58 I’m a heartbeat.

Definitely agree. The M8 should have been a halo car instead of an evolved 6 series. Especially in its price range. Similar to what Audi did with the R8 and Mercedes did with the AMG GT.
