The only nock I see on the upcoming engine is that I think the turbos will keep it out of a lot or racing series. Correct me if I am wrong though. |

very disappointing it wont get full carbon fiber treatment, I remember when that was implied. I am not surprised, but still disappointed.

Do you usually come to conclusions about cars before driving them? Have you driven the new M3 extensively enough to state this? If not, your argument is invalid.

The brakes look promising and large enough to be about 380 mm front and 355 mm rear behind those 19" wheels.

Agreed on the fact that in the past, M engines are based on "vanilla" engines. But historically they have always been extensively modified, with not much left in common with their vanilla counterpart. Hopefully BMW M will be doing the same thing here and not a carry over like they did in the 1M. IMO, an ///M engine should have the soul of Motorsport, that is what ///M stands for.

And to take that a little further, the S65 is a derivation of the S85, so there you have it, the only true M engine is an S85, booya!

3-man team. One to rip off cover, one for photo's and one in the getaway car. M3 of course, better make it a 6-spd so oyu know it's someone who can drive it right.

What I'm finding more and more about these spy/leak/info threads is people care way too much about the specifics of not being it's own rather than the final product. If we learned anything about the 1M, it's that regardless of what BMW decides to put in a car, it can still be an excellent car.
(And for crying out loud, BMW isn't an exclusive marque like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati. Stop thinking BMW needs to do this and that to keep up perception. They're just a regular/mass luxury brand. That is all. LOL) |

no doubt this is the f80 or f82 prototype... the wheels, tires...
H/w that doesn't mean it's concept-ready or show-ready underneath, it could just be one of those preproduction mules with a little more engineering for those execs to scrutinize.

I'm quite pleased with my N55 motor with a Dinan Stage 2 tune. I'd personally Love to see a higher performance version of this wonderful inline six. Just keep a 6MT an option & I'm your target customer BMW.

The amount of bitching and moaning in this crowd. Get over your case of the Mondays and have a beer and loosen up a bit.
