Stg 2 BM3 for lapping ?

Anyone regularly using BM3 OTS Stg 2 93 for time trials / open track lapping? I’m currently Stg 1 on track, and wouldn’t mind the incremental power bump. I’m DCT, catless, with ER charge pipes. Chassis, suspension, brakes, etc is fully built. High quality 93 is cheap and plentiful locally. I limit boost in 1st and 2nd via BM3, so putting power down shouldn’t be an issue.
I may be an optimist, but I believe I’ll be ok SCH-wise with a Stage 2 tune.
Anyone ? Pros..cons ?

Really the only con is SCH potential otherwise you want as much power as you can put down consistently! I've never gone lower than 3rd gear on a racetrack with this car and made it to 6 different tracks this year.

I will say that STG1, at least with my Dinan piggyback, still makes a TON of power and you will be faster than any GT Mustang or SS Camaro in a straight line. I'm still going to focus on handling for next year (maybe switch to a STG1 flash tune) but I think there is more to be gained in grip for this car.

Wait for the backstretch lol

You definitely gapped the Camero on the back stretch. I too can generally hang with the GTs and SSs..but the ZL1s, Z06, 350Rs, etc ...not so much obviously. A few more ponies would help to close the gap tho and trim a few 10ths.

You don't need a tune to be faster than Mustang GTs and Camaro SSs on the the straights

The challenge I see with tunes on a road course is "heat soak". The S55 in stock form has decent thermodynamic margin and is able to sustain its power level even after multiple laps on a hot day. A tune simply eats into that thermodynamic margin to provide more power when the conditions are good, but on an overly aggressive tunes, you lose that edge as the IAT go up.

Not all of us have CS cars!!!

That's another reason why I don't really see any point to moving past STG1 it seems like a really good place to develop yourself and keep your car mostly safe.

stage 2 here from alpine and many track days here in south florida, never had any issues with heat soaking, car always runs good, knocking on wood

I track with an F80Paul ethanol tune, 550whp or so. Car is a rocket. Supporting power mods are crank hub, clutch, plugs, dp's, cp's, Turner dual mount diff plate.

The ethanol tune changes the game entirely. It's a whole new level of speed vs a stage 1/2 on 91/93 octane.

I use stage 2 BM3, but the 91 tune. No issues.

Was he able to make the throttle very linear? I have the F80Paul E85 street tune that 590rwhp and its great but very peaky with 650rwtq.

How much timing is pulling in a 25 minute session?

I'm not sure if it will happen this year or next, but i'm wanting run an Ethanol track tune and maybe some water/meth in the charge pipes just for cooling as it would be water/meth adder tune and not a water/meth dependent tune.

I run in the advanced group, and log everything during my runs, I have a mostly stock f80, with bm3 and I run the gts or the cs+ tune on track . I use the sport or effecient throttle to keep the PowerBand linear also. To keep the timing in check I run a few gallons of e85 or add half a bottle of boostane.

Sadly, I've seen multiple bone factory stock M4 GTS and M2C spin crankhubs at Road America last year. So whether stock tune or modified, all at risk!

I have a RK Autowerks 4-pin crankhub and PETuned Stage 2E85 and 93oct tune. I did ask for a more linear powerband map for the track that limits torque in all gears below 5000RPM. Makes the car way more manageable. I'll try to provide some dyno graphs comparing my street high torque map to my track low torque.

Honestly, these cars are very fast even stock. If there's anything they need, it could utilize a much better suspension setup and good grippy tires.
