I have to say being an E90 owner for almost 4 years I still love this body.

However, the F80 personally does not have one bad angle and that interior

If I could have that interior in my E90!

Beautiful car. If I order the new F80 in a few years going to do the ED or PCD delivery and custom build it.

Just can't seem to let go of my E90 just yet.

The F80 looks soooooo much better than the E90. The front view of the E90 looks pretty good, but the rest of it just doesn't compare. F80 is full of win.

I can see what people are saying regarding the "busier" look of the F80 in comparison to the E90. I think that's true, but I also think the overall effect for the F80 is a bit more sculpted and aggressive. Can't argue that the E90 isn't "cleaner," though, 'cause it looks to me like it is. Not sure if "clean" is how I like my performance cars. The slapped on fender flares of the E30 M3 were definitely not "clean."

Anyone who says you can't compare the two based on the pictures above, well, you must be trying to justify why the F80 looks better. Or the other way around. I don't know.

What I do know is that if you can't make a comparison between the two cars based on the photos above, you either have no eye or an agenda.

No way. The F80's face has an aggressive expression that says, "Get out of my way," and the headlights are not smiling - rather they look angry. The face of the old car says "durp."

@Jason,

I remember on BMW press releases and on the drawings in the catalogues, the E90 M3 was listed as wider than the E92 M3. Based on your two threads, this one and the F82 M4 vs E92 M3, i think there is an error in the specs since the F82 vs E92 thread lists the E92 M3 width as 1821mm (vs E90 1816mm).

There's some inconsistency there. Official specs say E92 M3 (L/W/H)mm as (4615/1804/1424)mm and E90 M3 as 4580/1817/1447mm.

to bad when you heard a few revs the angry factor starts to fade. not saying the engine sounds bad, rather not a angry or mean sound.

I'm sure in a sound comparison the old V8 would win. But this is a visual comparison.

I agree, the AMG style seats look good.

Since I posted the comparable-quality pics of the e90, I'll put in my 2 cents worth:
1) Front: E90. Not a fan of the overlapping "gill-like" look of the left and right air dams (sorry if my vernacular isn't correct). [Edit: See immediately previous post above] Also don't like the F80's kidney-grill "snout". [Edit: I also just noticed the tiny M3 badge on the F80's kidney-grill. Looks like a zit on an adolescent's nose. Makes me want to pop it.]

2) Rear: F80. Even though I still don't like the same overlapping "gill-like" look on the bottom left and right, the rest is superior to the E90s.

3) Sides: Tie. Can't find fault with either. Both very nice.

4) Top: F80. You can just see the CF roof of the F80.

5) Interior: E90. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I kind of like the simplicity of the E90 design and layout.

Based on the above, I'd say it's a tie. I don't see the E90 ever becoming "dated" in the same way as, say, the E36 or the E60 (for the M5). It's still very visually-appealing.

[Edit: I forgot to mention: Love the E90's "///M V8" badge in the engine bay. Perhaps that puts the E90 over the top? ]

While not a fan of the nose treatment of the F80 I do like the mid and side angles of the vehicle. E90 still looking good after all these years. The biggest improvement IMO is the interior of the F80. I would love to see some real world comparison road/track test on these two M3's.......... I'm sure the F80 will come out on top but not by a huge margin.

The E90 M3 definitely looks better and more aggressive in person, the pictures sometime doesn't do it justice!

I can't wait to see how agressive the F80 rear looks!

Not sure if anyone else noticed but for the first time, the M3 badge on the trunk/bootlid has actually increased in size.
Prior to the F8X, it's been getting progressively smaller since at least the E36...

absolutely love the new M3, although i prefer the old dashboard, more simple, more driver oriented. New one has a little too much going on.

E90 front end >>>> F30 front end as it appears understated and sharp unlike F30 front end which is trying too hard.

Overall though I feel F30 M3 slight edge over E90.

Your E46 M3 looks great and I remember all those threads with members saying how the E9X M3 made the E46 M3 look dated.
The E46 M3 lines dont look anymore dated than the new Porsche 918.
