both beautiful cars, E90 is dated but lines are still looking solid, and love its minimalist look vs. the F80,which I think is a beautiful evolution of the E90 look (sans the rear bumper, trying a tad too hard there...yikes)

Love the new M3 and like the taillights better. However, over time will be interesting to see if rounded/smooth ages better than angular and sculpted. So far history has tended to favor the latter.

The E46 (and the E39) will always represent the period when design perfectly balanced tradition with modernity, form with function. They are neither too boxy, nor too round; neither too sharp-edged, nor too curvy. Understated yet aggressive. Simple yet sophisticated. Just right. We will always see the same pattern whenever a newer version of whatever we have is released. The old ones will still be special, but the new ones will almost always be better. Whether or not emotionally they are winners is a different story. Unfortunate that I sold the E46 almost 2 months ago. Wanted to keep it for track duty while I would DD with the E90. But my post-college priorities has got me to focus on better financial decisions. The E46 M3 will always have a special place in my heart & memory and I do plan on picking up another pristine one in the future, although i do love the E90 as well!

- The CF strut bar is AWESOMESAUCE
- I like the F80 seats and steering wheel - CF interior trim is still cool but a bit played out and "common" now, the carbon leather trim is more unique - The F80 styling is starting to grow on me and definitely more aggressive than the the E92. - I'm biased obviously but I still think the E92 M3 is the best looking M3 yet. - I really hope the M3/M4 puts BMW back at the top since the recent 3/5/6 series haven't exactly been dominating the competition lately

Man, I HATE those seat emblems. Having that thing pressing into your spine is not going to be comfortable. Almost everything else about the car seems great, too...

I can't stand how those who prefer older models are labeled biased or envious. Newer isn't always better. I could care less if a car looks "dated". I think there are designs from the past and the present that are appealing.
In this case, I think both cars look great.

you people gotta admit the f80 is definitely better in every aspect.
i had the e46 and now the e90 and looking at f80, i think its smoking hot. HOWEVER the E46 is the best car for its era and will always have a special place in my heart. In terms of handling, looks and fun, the E46 is the winner to me even if its a 10 year old car, i will one day own one again. BTW i don;t really like my e90 lol Id rather pop back into a e46 m3 |
