Same here.

I'm guessing the holes make up for material added where the lug nuts are....

I see those style wheels on a lot of "murdered-out" ricer 7 series'

Not for me. But they'd look good on another car! (M5?)

Exquisite.

I guess the exact weight savings is still confidential? Lighter than RI-D?

Motorsport and competition wheels......I understand completely BBS is second to none, that's great. No disrespect to the track guys at all, I tracked road and 1/4 mile for years before I had a demanding high travel career, would love to still by I just don't have time.

Now can they make a decent priced one piece wheel for the 99% of the other BMWs using them for just looks and daily driving duties? I don't need port holes in my wheels or any crazy finish, I just want something a little better than a Forgestar or "flow forged" rep wheel.

That's the trick- even BBS had to invest in new equipment to create those reliefs. These may not be replicated for quite a while! That, and the liability of building a wheel in an organization with less engineering expertise- build a wheel like this wrong and who knows how safe it will be.

But that would also require a lottery win.

Pricing should be more or less in line with other top-level BBS product, but I can't say anything beyond that just yet.

Yes, exact weight savings won't be released for some time, but I can only imagine! I think the other key point with these wheels is not only the extremely low weight, but also the excellent rigidity and strength.

It's possible that those of us with an engineering education can smell one another over the internet...

You are absolutely correct! Building halo product alone will not get the job done, and BBS does have to create excellent product at a range of price points. There are several products in the works that were not shown at Essen, that will address exactly that. I'll post news on those ASAP!

That's the best news I've heard all year. So far the current BBS "regular wheel" line-up hasn't impressed me much. (I mean I like some, but they're definitely not what I'd call that lightweight). I'd really like to see a nice looking, reasonably priced lightweight wheel. I love the FI series, but it's just outrageous for normal cars.

Give me a lightweight 20" wheel in a similar style (I know, but I need 20's to clear the brakes) and I'm set.

That said, Ilia do you guys have a list of aftermarket 19" wheels that clear the F10 M5 brakes?

These 19's will clear the ceramics. I think 20's are overkill. 19's are perfect IMO.

In have larger tires, so 20's actually look great with 275/35 and 305/30. Except I have to change to 265 fronts because the rears wore faster than the fronts and it was just enough for xDrive to start noticing. Car still drives fine, but if you gun it, you can feel the front ever so slightly trying to accelerate faster than the rear. And I'm sure I'm not doing my transfer case any favors.

Unfortunately I can't afford the FI 19's, or more accurately I don't want to spend that much on wheels. Other than the stock F10 M5 19s, I haven't seen any other M5's with aftermarket 19s.

Stay tuned to what BBS will be releasing shortly. They won't be forged like these but you'll have a reasonably priced product that looks great and will clear the 19's

Not sure about 20's though

Aside from quick wheel changes. What's the technical advantage of center lock over 5x120?

I really like the fi style wheels!

Center locks look completely badass and are lighter but in terms of functionality the "old school" 5 lugs are better, less expensive and more diverse. Center locks require specialty tools and grease... And try finding a winter setup or a track wheel for your center lock conversion. It's tough.

It's a similar argument as to the DCT vs 6MT debates.
