Anyone know how to lock the dme again? Under about I have “DME Unlocked”, just not sure if clicking it means to lock.

I have seen that the BOOTMOD3 is listed as "BETA" for most engine types/codes. Are there any limitatons or is the definition so because it is still in its early stages and thus not final?
Anyone experienced or tried it with an F06 LCI 2016 model or later?

They wrote about that many times if you search. Its because they’re adding features all the time. They could just remove it I guess at this point.

OK doc sorry I missed that but just wanted to rest assured before buying that as not all Beta things work flawless. Of course if it's about features being added then that's great as continuous improvement is strived for and achieved.

I just purchased BM3 to install on my F80 M3. I am using Mac OSX, and I have followed the steps correctly yet when I get to the vehicle registration after entering my activation code the bootmod3.net server gets stuck on "Please Wait" activating vehicle... I tried this three, the first time I got an error stating it couldn't complete(which I didn't screenshot) and the second and third times it had me wait over 30 min and no change in status. Any advice? Seems to just not be communicating with the BM3 server or something.

Thanks

Looks like server may be temporarily down, try again tomorrow. It may be fixed by then.

Not sure if I like or dislike that response. If true, at least it is not my fault but that sure is pretty frustrating for someone should they have been planning on switching maps at this point. Doesn't sing praises of the cloud idea.

Yeah that's a valid point, but technology is technology, and servers can go down temporarily or for maintenance. Just sucks when it happens when you need it. Although no less reliable I would think than not being able to access your tuner at a shop late at night. I think the bigger issue is if it was gone for good or bricking cars.

I was able to get it up and running an hour or so after posting. Yes, just a quick outage on the BM3 side as I had verified my internet connection. Anyways... now that it is tuned and I had a chance to drive it I can say I am very pleased with the first 15 miles. Much smoother than JB4.

I’ve gone in for service both relocked and with my OTS map flashed but I don’t care much for warranty stuff. Recommended way is to flash stock and choose the relock option.

My understanding is the flash counter is locked from the day your ECU is flashed with BM3. But I could be wrong.

Probably some stupid questions, but as I have never used BM3 before I want to be certain of what I do:
  1. The first post mentions "no laptop required": UPDATE: iOS and Android Apps Now Updated and Available, NO MORE LAPTOP REQUIRED!
However it then goes on to say that therefore step 2 is no longer necessary. Step 3 still involves connecting an ethernet cable to a computer. Pardon my confusing, but: "yea or nay" on the need of a laptop to flash your car? I don't have an ethernet - obd cable yet, so if not necessary I'd rather not buy one. I do have an obd connector coming in. Does this work, when connected to the BM3 iphone app?

  2. Supposedly, the GTS/CS maps are available for free (and applicable to M2C's S55). I am doubtful that the entire process is free of charge, so I suspect I still need to purchase something (a general access code to BM3's service?). I'd appreciate anyones guidance on this.

In advance, greatly appreciate anyone's experienced input on this. Thanks!

Hi Spare°, ENET cable connects to a WIFI enabled bootmod3 agent device. It powers from a 5v usb connection in your armrest where you can keep it as well, or tuck away anywhere else in the car. From that point forward it'll connect wirelessly to your phone and you can use the iOS or Android app to do everything with bootmod3. You're also welcome to DIY/build the wifi device yourself as some have done on this forum. While we could lock down devices to only those built by us we felt that allowing those DIY inclined make one themselves. DIY devices don't come with tech support.

As for the CS/GTS/CSL free maps, they're provided as additional included no-charge OTS maps. They're not flash-able without a license purchase.

Hope that clarifies it and if any other questions please email us at sales@protuningfreaks.com

They are now posted on the boot mod site itself:
