Last weeks of warranty and maintenance...thoughts o having dealer check car?

My warranty and maintenance expires 12/7/19. Car shows no issues, and on board service is all green. Should I still try and get dealer to give car once over? What do you all suggest?

Where I am it cost around $170 for the inspection. I feel like they checked but not deep enough. If I didnt do it it would bug me for a long time. Now I did it it seems like a waste of money. Weird.

A good start would be to look underneath the car if there's any visible moisture. My previous M3 at the time was wet and they replaced a differential gasket. While there, get your key fob battery replace, wiper blades change etc, etc. Because it's free. A tip for anyone reading. Bring a different key fob every time it's service. GL

Yes. They get paid to find things wrong. Right before mine expired I booked an appointment with my dealership to investigate a message that I thought I saw pop up, and for a very slightly cracked passenger side cowl piece which they unbelievably ordered and replaced under warranty. (The little 1/4 " plastic fence had a few vertical pieces missing). They inspected, searched for leaks, scanned the car and did a final software update as a "after today, your on your own" service.

Everything checked out fine, zero cost to me.

All for free? You sure? I thought it was just oil changes ? Anybody have a list of what else would be free for the asking while under warranty?

Warranty

The 2015 and 16 warranty covers oil change, pads, rotors, wiper blades etc, etc. 2017 and up and it's no longer free.

The major ones were brake pads, rotors, wiper inserts, clutch as far as I can remember.

You can pay extra ($700?) to get those items included in 2017+

here is the page explaining the coverages.

I just got a reminder of this form paying $34 for wiper blade inserts on my wife’s 2018 f31

Bought my 2015 used (lease turn-in) with low mileage. During my last 2 months of warranty, I had the oil changed at an Indy shop (maintenance wasn't transferred when the car was turned in) and while the car was on the lift, they discovered a differential seal leak (right side) and a torn ball joint boot (front left). Took it to the dealership and they fixed both under warranty - otherwise, it would have cost about $1K for parts and labor.

Those items are covered by maintenance, not warranty. After 2016, free maintenance is only for 3 years instead of 4.

Have an appointment this Wednesday. Mentioned the surging dct in low gear, and occasional hiccup at 4k, see what they find.

I think yes. Mine ends Dec 15th but went in early for a final once over cause I want to tune.

This depends on your SA as well imo. I have a good rapport with mine so that's a benefit that hopefully you have.

In terms of that on board service thing.... I didn't know I had to get my diff fluid changed but he knew. Don't think the onboard system covers that. Just engine oil and pads...

Go in for the once over.

I didn't think there was any maintenance on 2017 or later BMWs. I was under the assumption it had to be purchased in one of their maintenance plans, particularly for M-cars. Any more insight here?

You know what happens when you assume, right?

After 2016, only these parts are covered:

Engine Oil
Engine Filter
Brake Fluid
Cabin Micro Filter(s)
Engine Air Filter(s)
Spark Plugs
Remote Control/Key Battery
Vehicle Check
Fuel Filter (Diesel engines only)

Which is basically all you really need, the old plan was 1 year longer and it covered consumables like rotors, pads, and wiper blade inserts. BMW does not resurface rotors and only do full replacements, so it'll be worth it if you go through brakes a lot. You can upgrade to the old plan for an additional cost.

They won't fix shit that you don't complain about, or that's considere up selling warranty which is a big no-no.

If you have an issue, you go in, say ac is blowing warm, burning smell from engine bay, threads separating on seats, sluggish under acceleration or whatever you need them to check.

Get them to check your oil filter housing gasket and oil cooler gasket for leaks.
Bmw's have a history of failure in this area. Last 2 Bmw's leaked here.

Just got touched up for $1400 for mine granted Geico MBI covered all but $250 of it.

Low speed DCT bucking is normal btw for these cars... My 2016 did the same thing. That is until I flashed the GTS transmission software through BM3
