ConnectedDrive Email?

Can I access my personal (yahoo) and my work (exchange) email thru ConnectedDrive - and view on the nav screen?

Tried searching and came up empty. Called the number on their website, the guy I spoke to had literally no clue. Texted my "genius". No help.

I found what may be what I need at connecteddrive.bmwusa.com where I can add an email account.

But for 2 days now if I try to do so all I get is "Error.
Page cannot currently be displayed due to an internal error. Please try again later. Contact us"

Anyone here know? thanks -

ConnectedDrive Site > Login > Settings (from the left pane) > Set Up Services > Email Accounts > Add Email Account > Then enter your login details / Account Type (ie. email provider)

yep, when I try that I get "Error. Page cannot currently be displayed due to an internal error. Please try again later'

I was trying to add a yahoo acct. There is no yahoo in the account type drop down so I tried user defined .. add in the specs I found about incoming and outgoing mail. Still no luck.

Well I just added my Gmail 6 minutes back and it worked but I'm on the Dubai Site

guess I'll take a look a the security settings ...


So I'd need to lower security on my yahoo email to try and run this, but I can't find the email in the connected drive app in the car anyway!

well I had to enable an option in my Gmail Account Settings to allow 3rd party apps from signing in. Look for such a setting in your Yahoo Account Settings

Ok I'll take another look. What menu do you access in idrive to view the email account then? All is see is for BMW messages, no office or email options. Thanks

Update from BMW: office and email are not available on 2017+ idrive.

Also not available on 2015 MY. I tried a number of times and could never get it to work. I finally spoke to someone at BMW and they confirmed what I suspected. It simply does not work.

I have never been able to get past the connected drive login screen, keeps telling me "Email address or password invalid. Please check your entry" have always struggled to get BMW stuff to shake hands. I have the less secure setting in gmail on and have always been able to send destinations and such to my car thru google maps.

I know the email address and password is correct so gave up there is prolly something little i am missing

Same here. BMW infrastructure is embarrassing.

When I am on a long ride and want to check email, the work around I use is to push and hold the voice button on the steering wheel to wake up Siri and then ask Siri to check and read new emails to me. It checks all email accounts set up on the Mail app.

That's wrong, I just tried it on my 2018 M4, you go to Connected Drive, then online email, then your emails load provided you have added your account on your Connected Drive account on the website. Just tried it:

How are you able to add the account on Connected Drive online and what kind of account is it (Yahoo, gmail, etc.)? I have tried adding my email accounts on the Connected Drive website many times as have others in this thread and it will not allow me to add either of my email accounts (one Yahoo small business and the other gmail). A BMW genius told me specifically this function no longer works. So if there is a workaround, I'd like to know what it is.

Did you go to ConnectedDrive from the main screen, then scroll down a bit and select Online Mail?

First tried it when I first got my car, no matter what, it kept saying wrong info. I tried entering just the username, tried the email then @gmail.com . non worked so I gave up on it.

Then when the OP posted this thread a few days later, I tried again and it worked

I did this on the UAE website for Connected Drive: https://www.bmw-connecteddrive.ae/cd...n?locale=en_AE



Make sure you enter the password in a text notepad then copy/paste it to ensure you are doing it right and enter your full email in both fields, the email field and the username field

yep, there is no 'online mail' anywhere in the idrive connected drive menu on my car.

It is different... BMWNA is not allowing this feature in the USA yet.

Tried again on BMWUSA ConnectedDrive. Does not work for me.
