I pulled fuses 146/147 and it worked to keep the exhaust valves opened and I have not received any error. I have a 2016 M3 without the Driver Assistant package.

I don't have a picture but they're brown colored fuses, and you can put them back anytime you want (they're easily accessible).

It seems that these fuses affect functions of the Drivers Assistance Pkg, so I would do the connector method if you have that package. Otherwise should be no problems (no codes)

What type of tape should I use to protect that?

Electrical tape would work just fine. I usually start it on the connector side, overlapping as I move up the wire, and then zip tie the end where the tape terminates. This will keep it from unraveling indefinitely.

Even in Sport and Sport+, the valves close with moderate throttle input and revs below 4000RPM for 3rd gear and up.

OLD NEWS.

The pictures are very good BTW.

Best picture is the one that shows you exactly where to push on the connector to release it.

That's the most difficult part.

Hey were you able to resolve the issue ? I have Drivers Assistance plus and want to do the mod.

Thanks in advance !

Cold start sound

Curious if anyone knows of a way to keep the cold start sound on always ? I know some don't like the sound but I like it and wished it didn't go away after it warms up

Enjoy the feel of blood dripping from your ears, eh?

To at least attempt to be productive, this unplugged flap module mod will give you more (louder) of what you're looking for, but not that loud lawnmower sound that you desire.

To open the flaps, the easiest way is turn car on (but don't start the engine), put on sport, and press gas pedal. You'll hear the flaps open.

This also has been discussed before, see here for full details: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...68&postcount=4
And http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...0&postcount=22

NOTE: for all that are unplugging modules, connectors that can trigger faults in ISTA, just remember to plug things back (flaps, ASD module, ...) as this will prevent your dealer from performing any software update. I helped a fellow member with a similar issue http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...2&postcount=90

I don't know what happens when you disconnect the flap connector but just keep a mental note or if somone have ISTA, check if you have any faults in DME.

Guys i know there has been some debate on the fuses vs pulling the plugs but you can get the JRC valve kit for $20 shipped anywhere in the world. Seems like the best of both worlds honestly. Looks like they're clearing inventory so get it while they last

Any know of a dummy plug to place in the connectors? Electric tape is good but I’m sure it won’t hold up forever.

Why not just keep the flaps opened by forking over the 30 bucks for this BimmerLink app? Assuming you have a compatible OBD adapter. If you use BimmerCode, then the same adapter will work with BimmerLink. Otherwise you will need to spend an additional 20 bucks for the adapter. So for about 50 bucks total you can have full control over it at all times. Not to mention the app does many other things... enable/disable ASD, enable/disable Exhaust Burble sound tuning, etc.

Instead of wasting 60+ bucks on 2 dummy plugs...

BimmerLink App:

https://www.bimmerlink.app/

This is the adapter I have used for years in my f80, for both BimmerLink and BimmerCode. Its no longer listed on the BimmerCode/BimmerLink list of compatible adapters, simply only because its old, and newer adapters are now on the list. But it used to be listed on the compatible list, and I can confirm it DOES work with no issues. Its much cheaper than the newer ones also:

I only see options in BM3 for doing this in Sport & Sport+ ... is there an option for Comfort (default when starting) somewhere?
