Wow... At 19, I either had an ancient Buick or brand new Nishit Sencrap that kept breaking on me all the time. I'd be happy as hell to have an M-car at that age, but I know I neither would know how to handle it at the time, nor would I even really want one... Neither will my children have that kind of car even if I had loads of money.

I hate to say this because we know each other from the OT, but I agree completely. No kid of mine will get a car from me, since it teaches a lot to have to work for things. The thought of ending up with a spoiled prat keeps my kids pretty busy every day.

I know for sure that I was spoiled in many ways as a kid, I needed nothing. I also know how many times the stunts I pulled should've gotten me killed. It's a good lesson to learn to respect the other road users when you drive a shitty car. This all is just a sad story of parents flashing money and not thinking what actually is good for the child.

Well said, Lups. As an ex trooper I've seen far too many of these where the kids don't just walk away! I really don't think the parents understand the time bomb they are giving their young kids... bad enough they put any expensive, overpowered car into inexperienced hands, but a car of this caliber?? And uninsured?? Boggles the mind.

If anyone knows something, do share. I'm sorry about your car, if you are a forum member and you happen to read this.

Good luck with photos as usual in my case, sorry.
It's easier to be totaled in the US, since sales price is way lower.

at 19 I had a 2005 GTO. 400 hp RWD boat-tank but still powerful enough to get in trouble. It's all about respect and not showing off for the ladies (or dudes if that's your thing too).. even if this kid was being an angel behind the wheel the lack of insurance hurts 2nd most (seeing the car destroyed hurts most). At least he's physically unharmed.

I doubt it, I think it comes down to percentages everywhere.

I got my first car from the family. I guess it was a cheaper way to get rid of it than to drive it to the junk yard

$35k for a total led car? Good luck with that...

I think drivers ed should take kids to a sand pit on a shitty car. A few laps and a crash will happen but fairly safely. If nothing else they will learn it hurts like hell and that lesson will give an understanding how bad an actual crash would taste like.

It is damn sad that this shit happens, but maybe its for the good for the rest of us. Personally my only goal now is not to be the first female who crashes one. The amount of shit I'd get buried under after this thread alone would finish me off.

I'm sorry you had to spent your work life with us idiots.

And if it is really totalled, the purchaser could not get a clean title on it.

Yeah, I can't understand why...

I'd be dead if I had had one.

In Norway a "winter driving" course is a mandatory part of getting getting the drivers license. To simulate winter during the summer months, they make you drive on steel plates that have been sprayed with oil (literally). As you go down with some speed, the instructor tells you to engage clutch and jack the emergency brake. Had me doing a perfect 360. Yes, I was scared.

Yup, no wonder the insurance quotes are horrible for kids.

We have the same thing, I'm from your neighboring country.

I went to do the ice thingy in the winter, but my beloved driving instructor stepped out before I could hit the track. "yeah, I've come to the conclusion lups that you are not completely sane."

I'm guessing he didn't like me.

I'm from the place of cranky men and horrible women. Yes, I do admit I'm not the most normal version of the quiet and subtle finns.
