Swift Spec R F82 rear spring orientation - No definitive answer
Any Swift spring owners here?
I've read the master Swift springs thread twice over and there is still so much uncertainty over the orientation of the rear springs (helper side up or helper side down?). According to the master thread for the rear springs, the helper section of the springs should be on the top. Yet, they also say to install the springs so that the logo is right side up so that you can clearly read "Swift Rear". That is contradictory because every photo I've seen of these springs has the text right side up but with the helper section of the springs on the bottom, NOT the top. https://autotalent.com/products/swif...SABEgJsU_D_BwE https://www.vividracing.com/swift-sp...151455453.html https://www.hpashop.com/Swift-F8x-M3...Spec-R-F8x.htm If I'm understanding correctly, the "Swift Rear" text is positioned upside down, which would prompt the installer to install these with the helper section on top. Sorry if this is confusing, but I remain just as confused. The reason I'm asking is because my installer, a BMW specialty shop, installed these and out of curiousity yesterday I checked the rears and the helper section of the springs are on the bottom, not the top, as directed in the master thread. The fronts are fine. Is there any issue leaving these the way they are or do I risk damaging anything? I've already had these for 1,000 miles, presumably installed incorrectly. If anyone is well versed with these springs I'd appreciate your thoughts. I did call Swift yesterday and they said as long as the "Swift Rear" is right side up and readable, then it's fine, but also that the helper section should be on the top, which is contradictory. Forget the logo for a second. This is how it goes in.

So then these guys are wrong?
https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...postcount=1428 https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...postcount=1673 And Swift also mentioned yesterday that the helper springs for the rear go on top but as long as the Logo was readable and right side up, then it's fine - but you can't have both in my case. Mine are installed the way your picture shows, but the consensus seems to be 50/50 on this in regards to whether or not the rear helpers should be on top or bottom |

Update -
Confirmed rear springs were installed "correctly" with the "Swift rear" readable/not upside down. If these springs were to be installed with the helper springs on top, then the "Swift Rear" text would be upside down. Everyone in the master thread has said that as long as the text is right side up, then you're good to go. Still where I started... |

Ok... so Swift called me about this and confirmed that the REAR springs are installed correctly because the helper springs need to be on the bottom NOT the top. I was also informed that they need to be installed according to logo positioning (right side up).
Hope this helps someone. THanks to Leonard from Swift |

yes, that is the purpose of the helpers or the helper portion of a sport spring. They usually fully collapse under the weight of the vehicle.
