this is an interesting airbox mod, reminds me of Mr.5's airbox mod i did to my n54 335i back in the days. It's been awhile since this thread started, is there any new revision or improvements to the mod? would love to do this to mine

Awesome, I will say though if you're going to look for a set of front mount intakes to test. The ones that look the most promising are the Silicone Front Mount Intakes by Project Gamma. They're Silicone so they should stay cool and they have a 3.5 Inch Inner Diameter with Custom filters with what appears to be a built in velocity stack. Good luck to you and your testing.

I was sent mst set to test by a forum member. They also indicated similar results as the CTS.

What I really want to get my hands on to finalize it is a good set of eventuris.

The interesting note is that they are the only intake company to provide the full scoop feed idea. I wander if the reason eventuris have been one of the only to make gains over oem is because of those air feeds. They are dumb pricey but I hear they are the only ones that can out perform this oem solution.

I saw the biggest changes when I added those scoops and cut the boxes.

Yeah I'm being somewhat tongue in cheek. I have their unit on my E46m3 but it's substantially less @ $1k…

It's crazy. Probably set a precedent for them too.

I think most of any gains are from those scoops. But man they get dirty sooo fast... Reminds me I should probably put my debris guard back in lol.

Which company out there makes the best Air Intake Scoops? It seems like there's only a few out on the market.

I'm curious how stock location 6" Velocity Stack's with 3" inlet's straight to the turbos with Air Scoops would perform.

Hey guys take a look at what I came across. What do you guys think of these Air Intake Scoops made by Speed Engineering in Germany. They look a little different from the other scoops I've seen on the market, and appear to have a slight lip around the scoops, which other scoops don't appear to have. Check it out,

Nice find! I'm down to try this, was just about to pull the trigger on the Project Gamma intake you mentioned

Also some interesting news, it appears the 1/4 Mile Stock Turbo S55 record has been broken by heritage_m4 on Instagram with a 10.18 second 1/4 Mile at 135 MPH. Intakes used were the Project Gamma Intakes with their filters. Here is the post with all the info as well as another video from the front of the car . These intakes are loud and sound wicked.

With the stock air box, what intake scoops are you all using?

Yeah that is sick. Super cool to others still pushing stock turbos.

I have nearly 4/10s 60-130 and 1-2 trap on that car with more weight and stock turbos as well using oem boxes with panel filters

So I'm not sure the intakes really add anything.

However, I have never tested the grill versions yet.

Nice to hear, no doubt the engineers over at BMW designed a really good airbox setup. With a few add ons to the stock intake system such as, high flow filter, charcoal delete, and scoops. You'll be well off.

Anyone else here with an update. Also to anybody running any kind of Front Mount Intakes, leave a comment in regards to how your Front Mount Intakes perform.
