Getting video's to play from usb
Alright, coded with bimmercode for video while driving (that works) and have all codecs active to my knowledge. Problem I am having is any mkv files on my usb stick will only play audio, not recognize them as a video. 2nd off, I am having problems reading more videos it seems. I have a samsung 256gb usb stick, total we have like 800 music videos on. It seems if I put the drive to exfat it doesn't even read, ntfs it works but doesn't read mkv files, and fat32 it just doesn't know what to do when I have more than like 100 files on it.
What the hell am I doing wrong and why does mkv files not read? Do I need a software update first? I imagine one has not been done since the car was new in 2016, do I need to recode it as if I did something wrong? It seems like no one has a issue playing mkv files but myself on here. I also noticed if I put all videos in 1 folder, it seems to want to read the count correctly, yet if I have separate folders, it just randomly doesn't want to read each folder. |

It's as if I put too many files on it (over 100) it just doesn't read the usb drive at all. I currently have it in ntfs because that seems to be best luck. Not sure what else to do, I would expect modern car to not have a issue reading a 256gb usb drive like common.. lol

update, so I converted my entire 256gb flash drive to fat32. Then converted all like 1000 videos to mp4's at the exact resolution the screen is. Now they all read. Alright then.. Actually, seems like over 32gb worth of files or over 550 video files it stops reading it

1280x480 is native resolution for the screen on this m4 looks like. I used video coder to just convert all them to mp4's and that resolution. Still having issues with large amounts though. I can read 400 videos and they play normal, but seems like if I keep adding more, it won't read all of them and it will get buggy. I don't get wtf the issue is.
