M3 CS production number?
Hey guys, I just got my M3cs a little over a month ago, and I'm in love with the car. I've recently noticed that someone posted their production number on Instagram, and it made me curious about what mine might be.
Does anyone know how to get it? My production date is 07-31-2018. |

What do you mean by production number? I don't think the CS were made sequentially.
We've tried to figure this out s little bit on the CS Facebook group, but didn't spend much time on it.

To the OP: I'm not sure how you would find the production car of a car that's already completed. It's completely meaningless at the point that the VIN is assigned.

I know about production numbers.
I was wondering if he was asking if the CSs were made sequentially (which we don't think they were). OP, what are the last 5 digits of your VIN?

I know how to use the vin decoder. I saw someone and they appeared to know what number out of the limited m3cs that were made for example 140 out of 600. when I put in my vin, it said July 31 2018 but I haven't found much information other than that despite the research I did. it's not a big deal just peaked my curiosity

Someone posted up CS VINs on thread a few months ago. Maybe someone can find it and link here. It appears the CS cars were made in batches with 10 to 15 with sequential VINs followed by other F80s. The last run of CS cars occurred in late October.

My last 5 of my VIN are 00042, so I just pretend that mine is the 42nd (even though I know that isn't correct and would never represent it to be that way).

Actually this is one of the last dozen or so of CS 3 cars and probably one of the last 100 or so F80s. Lease transfer: 2018 BMW M3 CS - SMB https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1613665 |

M3 CS does not have a unique model code. It is a F80 M3 LCI with the option code 9MR. Therefore, it doesn't have a unique VIN range. With BMW there is this thing, you can have a car with the VIN 00001, but a car with the VIN 00002 could've been built a week earlier.
Another issue is that generally BMW splits model into three types; RoW LHD, RoW RHD and NA. These types also have their own VIN range. So for example, NA cars can have a VIN range AA00000=>AA00500 while RoW LHD will be AB00000=>AB00500. This makes any kind of sorting by VIN impossible. Keep in mind though, when BMW actually assigns a "one of X" number to a special edition, it is done completely at random. Quote:
There were 9 NA-spec CSs built on that day. Quote:
#227 NA-spec CS sorted by date then VIN. Quote:

It was only "limited" due to the fact that the F80 ended production...
The M3cs is really an afterthought, were BMW saw an opportunity to boost sales for the end of M3 production run, particularly in the US where the M3 is more popular than the M4. They created the M3cs by combining some M4cs bits with some M3 30jahre interior bits. The only specifically designed component is the rear decklid spoiler. The M3cs spent far less time in development than the M4cs did.

Also, the M4 is a limited production run because they said they would give no more than 2,200 F82's the "CS treatment." They said that 2 years before the F82 ends production, am I right?

Does that mean that #227 is my official production number out of 661 for North America - US and Canada combined ?

BMW USA definitely got greedy and got the pricing wrong.
