Aside from the fact that I prefer to be comfortable, I also don't like being restrained when I am driving. That feeling sucks. My gf and parents also is my other reason. My father can't fit in the buckets lol (he is too uh... wide). Personally, if my car is an RS, I would have probably gotten buckets because... I feel like it is needed? Heck, I saw a .2 GT3 RS they had today. It had sofas, which blew my mind as I didn't think someone would do it, but there it was. The original owner was brave.

Congrats on the car. Enjoy it.
But hold up, it is completely legal in the US to custom order (and sign an order form for it) a vehicle but not collect it once it arrives? And the dealer is left with the car?!

We own nothing until we sign that financial contract on the dotted line or pay 100% cash. A custom order isn't legally binding. It's just an order.

Usually the contract is non-binding as Sedan_Clan mentioned but what the deposit (usually) is for, is to prevent the signee from ordering at multiple dealerships. That is what that initial signature and info is for. If they see you are in the system already at another place, for the same car, they would just take your deposit. That is what that is technically for. I ironically asked this yesterday since I was curious too. There are exceptions. Like me, I never signed anything. Never did a deposit because the GSM is very familiar with my family and me that I was never asked to do so since I only do my orders through them. Everything for me is by mouth and trust. Trust is for the markup or discount if your wondering. This would be the same with other users who are familiar with their dealership and only do things with them (usually). That is also why some Rennlist people tend to do always sign because they ask for allocation online through Rennlist. They are forwarded to an out of state dealership, dealership doesn't know who they are but conducts their business and they ask for a deposit to be sure said person doesn't have an order somewhere else. Porsche's ordering system (and incoming cars) can be see country wide. Usually, even ordered cars like my GT4 can be seen. That is why they told me ppl are asking if I am taking delivery. It is extremely easy for them to find you if they need to. Unless you're lying :P

Further to the above comments, unlike in Europe dealers can move really expensive custom cars really quickly in the US (unless you order a McDonald's spec) given how cheap it is here and the very low taxes compared to the EU. Sometimes a dealer might actually want the customer not to pick up the car so he can sell it for a higher price

In the spirit of changing cars for 5th time in a year, I got the go ahead from the wifey to put my order in for a 992 GTS.
Talked to my guy at the local dealer, basically if I trade my R8 spyder in - they'll guarantee me a car with no ADM. Playing around with builds, trying to keep it under $200k CDN - thinking of setting on this: PNP9ZD50 CF roof I'm 50/50... maybe I should just pull the trigger?

I wish it was a GT3 with no ADM.... I'm not that close with them haha! This'll be just another GTS, but with some of the GT3 goodies with the new lightweight pack.

I've been reading through the German BMW boards to research a potential new candidate for the garage and came across various threads discussing electronic speed limiters on recent BMWs.
As you know, a lot of BMWs top out at 155 mph/ 250 kph as per the brochure. Well, apparently, cars after built 11/2020 do not even achieve 250 kph GPS. Ze Germans say their own bone stock six-cylinder G20s and G30s (including M3/M4 and M550i!) do not go beyond mid-240s. Usually, 240-243 kph is the real top speed. AutotopNL has got a few of them on the channel , too. Identical cars, built before Nov 2020, go a few kph beyond 250. As do my F80 and 135i, obviously. Someone with a lowly 318d experience the same issue as the car wouldn't even reach its claimed 226 kph according to the speedo. The question is whether this is intentional (for reasons unknown) or a software bug.

That looks to be on Chalk as well eh? I was hoping for more contrast. It's too bad I can't do the glass sunroof with the lightweight package. Might just get a black vinyl wrap

Few reasons...
Totally love the R8 - but it's heavy, and I wouldn't say the Spyder is a driver's car. It's capable but not very dynamic, if that makes sense. Finding myself missing my 911 more and more (outside of the screaming banshee 6 inches behind my had in the R8). It sounds amazing, is a head turner, supremely comfortable - but dare I say a bit boring. Everyday "supercar" yada yada yada. Also the wife wants to do another road trip in Europe before we have kids, so a Euro delivery would be kind of fun. Lastly, even though I've heard the 2nd gen r8 is super reliable - the idea of something going wrong scares me. My warranty expires next summer and that seems to line up with when I trade the car in for the 992.

Well guys... I have an update and possibly on of the world's biggest boner killers. I no longer have the CS. Long story short - I missed a pretty egregious cosmetic blemish that for a variety of reasons on both my walk arounds including the ambient lighting & weather conditions relative to SMB, excitement at the prospect of owning the car after giving it a drive, and frankly I just was not expecting or looking for something like that on a M3 listed at ~$80k. In fact, 3 other people who walked around missed it as well - SMB in overcast really made it hard to see. I only saw it two days later when I got eye-level with the car in bright sunlight and tried to wipe them away since I though they were light refraction on rain drops. And when I think back, the dealer did conveniently keep the car out of sight on the purchase day until afterward and always backed into spaces to show off the car. After alerting the dealer they did offer to fix all the blemishes, but I just wasn't willing to spend what I did for a car that immediately needed some plastic surgery. Especially since this would require a full respray of the rear bumper with a very finicky color like SMB. Luckily I was able to unwind the transaction with ease, so currently I've got the F82 back and it's as if the deal never happened. So where does that leave me... well I'm pretty sure I'm done with the F82 so I'll be actively looking for:
Either another SMB CS or A 6-spd Individual F80 w/ full leather that I can convert to CS suspension hardware and tuning. The CS was really a revelation in the very short time I had it - the quality of the damping was incredible on the absolute shite PNW roads (which was kind of a pseudo stress test). I could maintain traction over stuff that I had no right to based on my experience in the F82. Places where I would usually ease off the gas, I could keep it steady or push further into the pedal. Anyway, I'm pretty bummed about it but glad I could come out completely unscathed.
