DCT Failure at 50K miles
DCT started acting up on my M4 3 weeks ago. Started slipping back into park from both D and R when in driveway. Took it into service and was told something shorted out in in shifter assembly and replaced for $1,800. Picked up and same thing, then other issues began. Wouldn't go into 1st gear at a full stop, wouldn't shift at normal shift points. Took it back from service and on the way got a drivetrain malfunction message. Service had it for a week, passed to "foreman' and called today and are asking BMW for an "assessment." Was told best case replace the mechatronic adapter, $5,000 or replace the transmission $10K plus for the transmission, no labor. ONLY 50K miles. No warranty. Thinking about buying a used DCT for $3K. Any advice?
