Well they were not "race" pads but simply track pads, they were available directly from BMW and were available very early in the cars release, perhaps even at launch IIRC.

PFC 08 from Performance Friction should be available soon. If you had them on your E8x/E9x M or non-M cars before you know they work well on the track and have longer life than most other track/race pads.

I have not tried Carbotechs in any of my cars, but I prefer the PFC 08s over the RS-19 or RS-29s due to better initial bite (has more feel) and particularly better release characteristics. +1 on PFC 08s.

Any word on how soon? Got a date with a track in a few weeks and definitely don't want to go there on stock...

No, no ETA at this time, but we will post as soon as they are available.

Pagid RS29's may be available a bit sooner, however.

Ordered a set of Carbotech XP12/XP10 from IND for the M4 today (thanks Ilia)

They should be here before my next track day on the 23rd. I'll test them out and report back. Having said that, I am super confident they will perform flawlessly.

Also picked up a set of 1521 street pads to clean up some of the crazy brake dust you get with OEM pads... that, and the pad material is compatible with the XP line which reduces pad swap frustrations.

Got my Carbotech XP12 and XP10 pads today

I'm going to put them on Saturday and then to the track on Tuesday. Excited and will post my thoughts later in the week.

So how to do. To get 1521 for thew street anа xp8 for the track and just change them with no issue? Is it okay to use used pads for the rotors?

I understand the Pagids are not compatible with other pads?
Does the xp10 have noise?

I don't think the XP8s are going to be enough. My bet is that you would need at least 10s or 12s.

The XP10s are not bad when it comes to squealing. They are ok, but it sounds a little. There are many other pads that sound way worse. I personally love the sound from them, sounds like a set of real brakes should

BTW, I was close to you last week. Was in St Petersburg, LOVE Russian food. Chebureki and khachapuri are great stuff

Haha this came from south, not like our traditional food)
So the xp10 will be okay for a daily drive? Or it is better to get the second set of 1521?

its subjective. i expect the xp8,10,12 compounds will squeel quite a bit when cold. the temp when they get warm enough not to squeel and consequently work optimally goes up the more aggresive pads you use and also how aggresively you drive. if you don't want any kind of squeel get a set of 1521's just for peace of mind.

me personally i prefer squeely and less times i touch the brakes the better. i will just leave track pads in the car all the time. its not a daily.

xp12/10 squeel like mad and will eat rotors fast if you DD with them. but they are amazing on track. i got a set of 1521s for DD hoping they'd be quiet, but alas they been squeeling so far. I am hoping theyll improve in a few days, but its been about 4 and no change
Might have to go back to OEM for daily driving.

XP12 front and XP10 rear worked exceptionally well. No fade at all. They were, however, noisey but for a track pad who cares

I'm having the same issue with the 1521. On my C7 they were dead quiet. I am going to clean the brakes and put some brake quiet paste on them and see what that does. If not, I will also be going back to stock for the street.

Keep at it guys. Carbotech states that if you put any of their pads on used rotors with traditional non ceramic pads it will squeal till all the old material is worn off on the rotors. Putting some brake quiet paste on the pad backing side will also help.

The 1521 pads are fantastic! I have them on my M5 and have not looked back.
