So this is not a recall after all... it is dealing with a current production issue.
Depending on who you ask. Remember CAs have more info than NA about the cars once turned over to sales distro

Interesting so you got on a boat like this? When was your prod complete? Seems like a very scattered issue.

Agreed I think this will turn out to be a short delay, shorter than expected and be over real soon. A few days, not weeks.

Decided to call myself. Spoke to a nice guy named Scott who seemed to be decently informed.

He said the clock started ticking 2 days ago not from time of original production. He said 9-10 weeks so that whole low # of 8 seems to be gone all together. Couldn't answer if they will trickle out or all be repaired at the same time. I do not think any on the road cars are affected.

Pretty much means shipping in Jan to me.

What do you mean week 38 green light? Mine was produced that week and wondering if / hoping that means what I'd like it to mean. Can you please clarify?

I guess this is why my car was pushed from 38 to 42 then 44. I wish I had my car already but at the same time I guess I'm happy they caught the defect before it was put into my car.

Never? That's why I waited to place my order. Almost every new product is going to have flaws that need to be corrected. I usually wait for a second year model but all my friends and brother convinced me I didn't need to wait. It's BMW, they won't screw up. It'll be fine. I guess they were wrong.

It's funny that if a problem comes out with something so simple as a cell phone, i.e. first releases of some IOS phones, computer operating systems i.e. anything windows, we seem to cut some good slack in the "it's to be expected category" but when its our cars we just can't understand why.

10 years ago new 6 series 1st yr model change, took delivery after first week, car in shop with ECM issue, part back ordered 3 months, car sat at dealer in their back yard in Riverside CA. Come to find out I could have just said, I want a new car, they said later in the year you could of had it, you just never asked.

I fail to see how this is a BMW problem. BBS produced these wheels not BMW. BBS has been producing wheels for decades and should have the procedures in place to prevent such a thing as this from happening. Why they didn't they will have to discover and fix.

So we are comparing a couple hundred dollar item to an $65-90k luxury car?

I expected first year issues. Just not ones that would delay me getting my car by half a year.

I called BMW NA to check whether my car currently on ship (19'' black wheel) is affected by this issue, and the representative checked that mine is not included in the affected list.
FYI, my production was completed on 9/16 (production week 37-38, I guess?).

quality control should also fall on BMW's responsibility, regardless of who the supplier is (unless that's an unreasonable assumption). Same happened with the HPFPs in the N54s and oil pumps in the F10 M5s. BMW didn't make them and they sure did cause headache for first year owners.

You must be a lucky man, mine was 1 week later, maybe I was the first schmuck to get the bad wheels. That's what I get for ordering individual colors , individual leather and contrast stitching

My damn 2013 f10 m5 had the bad oil pump recall too!!!!

Just to be clear, the recall for 19" wheels only affects those cars in or just released from production. It does not affect cars already on the road according to BMWNA

I just called and spoke with BMW NA rep. and she confirmed that if your vehicle has shipped it is not on the effected list and will not be held at the VPC in the US. She said the effected vehicles have been pulled from shipment
