New YMB f80 with bumper stains
I’m wondering if anyone has seen this before.
I had my car in for PPF and they noticed some brown looking stains which they assumed were oil. They said the spots were raised and you’d definitely notice through the film. After making attempts to remove with alcohol they had a detailer look at it who said it would likely require wet sanding. They look like oil in color but don’t come off. BMW dealer said they’d take care of it but has not seen it yet. Any ideas?

I'd take the car to a good detailer rather than let BMW touch it and probably make it worse.
A good detailer will fix it and make your car shine again.

if its eaten into the clear, might need a respray.
If its surface level, wetsand and correction MIGHT fix it. It looks sort of like tire dressing that stains white paint to be honest. Seems like something splattered on it while still wet |

it's really amazing.. I am not a professional detailer by any stretch but I'm able to take care of my own with my porter cable DA and cabinet full of detailing supplies..
I tried a few different polishes on a new pad and it DOES NOT come out. In fact one spot became darker... Waiting on the dealer to see how they want to approach.

Looks like something sitting of color chemically etched your clear if it's not coming out. I see some other water spots around the surrounding area too that look etched (pic 1 and 5). Almost looks like soda or brake fluid splattered on it...
You did clay first right? The only hope you have is to either use more aggressive methods (more aggressive pad, compound etc) or detailer/dealer it if you're not comfortable. |

Do you have any IronX or TarX? Or APC? I would try those first. I’d hate to sand a new car.
One thing is for sure... I doubt I would let a dealer touch it. I’m not a pro by any means either, but I’ve had multiple negative experiences with dealers and paint work. I’d try to resolve it myself, and worst case take it to a reputable detailer. |

Surprisingly, I don’t have iron x but will grab some.
After trying multiple polishes up to an aggressive menzerna with the porter cable I can’t see how something I apply would do anything. I’m beginning to guess brake fluid that started to dissolve and eat through (maybe). Whatever it is I don’t think it’s surface at all. |

Yeah I doubt the chemicals will work if you already compounded. Just a thought. I have had a situation where there was some goo-like substance on my car that didn’t polish off but did come off with an APC, so it wouldn’t hurt to try.
If not then you might have to have the dealer respray. If it’s new they should. I don’t know how hard it is to match YMB, but at least it’s only the bumper. Good luck man. |

just take it to the dealer and have it resprayed.
f its isolated to one side, respray that side, and then make sure they clear the whole bumper. Do not let them do a corner blend and not clear the whole bumper, you will have a hard line where they stopped and feathered out the next time you polish it. |
