M Performance H.A.S or Bilstein B6 Damptronic

Which setup would be better for F80/82, M performance H.A.S kit design to work with stock shock absorbers or go for Bilstein B6 shocks with a branded lowering spring. Do take into account the cost of each setup.

Bilstein B6 hands down.
The stock MacPherson struts leave a lot to be desired when it comes to dampening ability, and from the reviews I've read the Bilsteins improve handling and road compliance dramatically.

I'm looking forward to having the opportunity to experience that first hand once the B6 setup and Eibach V1 springs I ordered arrive in a few weeks

Absolutely the B6 Damptronics with your own choice of springs.
If you do a quick search you'll find my review of these, paired with Eibach Pro springs.
If you need height adjustment options, go for the B16 Damptronic kit.

Does the b16 come with its own springs so you don’t have to change them out!?

Yes Ed, the B16's are proper coil overs.
You'd need an EDC delete if you install the passive setup.
Not so if you go with the damptronic version.

Don't have any pictures of the coilovers but overall it made the car much firmer (sport+ very stiff for the road ) and just removed the overall skitish feel on the roads - defo worth buying.

The Bilstein coilovers are very stiff, even in the softest settings.

If you’re going coilovers for non track us, then Ohlins are the best, KW V3s are very good but I’ve ran them on my Ms.

CS damper update and MP HAS or AC Schnitzer springs gives much better all round performance.

If you’re going full track then KW Clubsports. Nitrons or Intrax.

Well I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a set of B6 damptronic’s shocks. I’d be keeping my F82 comp for a while longer now since the unveiling of the G82 so worth upgrading suspension. Can’t wait now as current shocks on lowering springs are bad, not enjoying car as much as I should.

You will be pleased with your choice, for sure. It's such an improvement

Yes Ed, I believe so. They are suitable for a modest drop.
But I don't know the range of the HAS kit.
In their general description, Bilstein doesn't mention specific numbers iirc.
I'd give their technical department a bell, or drop them an email. I believe their customer support is very good (pre-covid anyway).
The B8 damper is shorter, specifically for larger drops in ride height, not sure if they do them in damptronic form or not.

B6D installed yesterday and yes it is stiffer but have been told once settled after a few miles it would soften up a bit. The ride improved big time, some of the roads I normally use felt a lot better then the old setup. I read on the forum that some have said after the install they notice that if you select comfort mode it's in sports+ and if you select sports+ its in comfort mode. What's that all about.

I've no knowledge of this at all. Never saw such an observation when I was researching.
Mine have always functioned correctly from day one.

Can you post some of your views on the B6 Damptronics? How is the ride quality? Have you sorted out the reversal of Comfort / Sport+ settings?

Thanks…

The ride is much improved now than the stock setup I was running on 20mm lowering spring. It is firmer and you'll notice it but you'll also enjoy it at the same time because the shock is doing what it was meant too do. Driving around on the same roads with some small potholes, with the new setup I can drive over them with ease now, and when you put your foot down the backend doest'n move it just put the power down and your off. The install was ok, no problem to the setting comfort/sport/sport+, all worked in the right order.
