First BMW (F80 M3 2017 YMB ZCP 6MT) and New To Forum

Hey All!

My name is Brad and I'm new to the BMW world. I've driven various models over the years and always loved them but have always wanted to buy an M3. Being as I'm very cautious and don't take loans it's taken me a while but finally, I've bought my first M. I also have a Mazda Miata NB manual and a Nissan Xterra that was my former daily driver. Needless to say, the F80 has everything I need with power, comfort, looks and room for the kids.

The car was delivered August 10th and so far I've bought Tommy L Garage mudlaps, had the windows tinted, full detail and ceramic coat, Weathertec trunk liner for hauling kids sports gear, HRE FF01 flow formed wheels for winter setup in 19" staggered along with Michelin Alpin PA4 tires and now I'm working on the Carbon Fiber stuff and reading until my head spins. This forum is already proving essential in attaining information regarding parts and technical information.

My goals for the car are to dress it up a little with some CF, lower it down a bit but not too much, get a few aftermarket interior parts and then just enjoy it. I may do a charge pipe upgrade and some performance mods but I don't think I'd go too extreme. That is all to be decided as I learn the platform. I also could use some advanced driver courses to better handle the car as I'm still a fairly entry level driver when it comes to performance driving or handling higher HP cars.

Anyway, here are a couple photos of the new beauty and I'm already thoroughly enjoying my ownership of this incredible car!

Awesome ride!!!!

Congratulations...

My advice; drive it for a year in stock trim.

Turn off all the drivers aids and floor it; if that don't scare you then tune it.

In stock trim the car is an absolute BEAST!!!!

You'll find your best mod is tires and regular maintenance.

I'm 100% stock with DWS 06 tires and I whipped up on a 2012 C63, Charger SRT, Scat Pack and countless others.

Unless you're chasing a HP number; for street use 400+ HP is plenty along with a "limited" top speed of 165 mph

Again; congratulations!

The Miata is probably the most balanced convertible cars I've ever driven. The worst being a volvo convertible.

That felt like it was held together with duck tape and nails

6MT FTW!!!!

Well, currently Ridgefield, WA outside of Portland and near PIR but only for another week. We are moving out to Eastern WA to the Tri Cities area. I hope to do some PIR training though and stay at my dad's house in Washougal but definitely open to other classes and facilities if you have recommendations!

I get a lot of enjoyment out of the Miata. So well balanced. Great for hills and mountain roads. The more turns the better. And yeah, stock I've already gapped a couple Subies (tuned), a couple of ricer Civics and a couple of others that wanted to step on it. I intend to keep the mechanics stock, like you suggest, while I learn to really feel the car and get the rev matches ironed out. It drives so differently than anything I've had. A little worried to turn off traction control quite yet as I'm so used to low powered cars I tend to hop on the throttle pre-apex because the Miata kind of requires it to get any exit speed!

Well bummer, PIR houses some excellent instructors and a decent track, of course up north has even more. As for Tri Cities, unfortunately I don't know any of but still have a ton of friends in Kennewick and Richland, let me inquire! Worst case you can take the 3.5 hour trip to PDX or 4 hour trip to Seattle for the instruction. Hang tight!

I've loved this color since I first saw it on much earlier M cars. And every passerby asks about it and comments on how much they love the color. Sadly I have seen that in Europe, or at least a UK driver specifically, mentioned the lack of popularity over there for YMB. My feeling is, the more exotic a car the brighter it should be. Give me that lime green or bright orange Huracan and I'm good to go. Fun cars should be fun colors and YMB is among my all time favorite!

The closest to you seems to be Spokane raceway. I’d give them a buzz and see what you can set up.

Haha looks like we both came up with the same name more or less. What we know about each other is that we're both very clever and have great taste in cars!

Looks like Oregon Raceway Park isn't too far away. I can maybe get some instruction there or just go to PIR this spring.

I'm from Tri-Cities and hoping to head back home soon and take my new (to me) toy with me

Hopefully we can mob once I'm around if we find each other in the same area
