Impressions of the 2016 M3 I just bought

Just picked up a '16 M3 Sedan w/ 27k miles. Jet Blk/Silverstone, DCT, passive suspension, 19 wheels. Was shopping G20, but when a couple year old M3 is cheaper....

First week impressions:
- longer & wider than E92 M3 but feels lighter on its feet
- doesn't look too big to me until I park next to buddy's E36!
- steering lacks feel but is linear, well weighted, and no dead spot
- turn in is sharp; cornering is flat
- suspension is definitely firm
- DSC off = get ready
- great brakes
- not a big fan of active sound or exhaust note; but I'll live
- fast enough, but thought it would feel faster. Has its moments
- cabin is loud due active sound; tire noise, and wind noise.
- interior is underwhelming; not big jump from standard 3 series
- seating position/headroom is much better than E92 M3
- sharp looking car but think E92 looked even better

Thinking this may be a keeper! Feels like it may turn out to be a great daily.

Have same car, with about the same miles. Have you considered bootmod3? Add a midpipe, and CAI and your car will absolutely scream. Posted a pic of a pull the other day with about 4kish in engine mod upgrades, the arrow represents the max it hit (as I'm sure you know). These cars have a ton of potential are EXTREMELY fast modded. Did an airport run here in Fort Worth, hit 172 and it was only at 5k in 7th gear.

Agree with you on the cabin noise, don't know if its my tires, use the Michelin Pilot S4s. Brakes are outstanding in my opinion. Only thing I have issue with is putting the damn thing in park. So tired of putting it into neutral, hitting the brake, and restarting the thing after I turn it off lol.

Congrats on the F80!

Turn off all the safety electronics and set the car to the most aggressive settings and hammer it!!!

Let me know what you think

Congrats! I drove the 2015 F82 for 3 years, then sold it for a C63S, them immediately regretted it. I now drive an F06 M6, which is great in its own ways, but the M4 is probably the favorite car I've owned, and if I find a super low miles 2020 manual in a couple of year, I may buy it to keep it.

Maybe a stupid question, but how did you get your Power gauge up to 640 hp? I think mine only goes up to 480
