DCT "stuck" and puddle under car?

Sorry if this is the wrong place, but I couldn't find anywhere else to ask if anyone has seen this:

(1) Everything in Sport mode, I exit off of the highway (from going about 80) and slow down, DCT shifts down and then gets "stuck" (at 1, I believe) and the engine revs like MAD (at this point I was lightly hitting the throttle just to keep the car moving) - probably 3-4k RPM. Only thing I could do was pull over and stop and eventually it unstuck itself and could drive normally without revving like crazy (I also changed everything to Efficient/Comfort).

(2) After driving from a cold start for 10 minutes this morning and having it parked for about 20 mins, I noticed a sizable puddle under the car, in the middle front half. Drove her another 5-10 minutes, parked for another 15, same puddle was there but much smaller. I suppose I should have checked to see what the puddle was.

Not sure if the two are related, but I'm paranoid so I figure the experts here may have some insights. Thanks.

That doesn't good. What's the consistency of this puddle? Is it oily? Post some pics.

I wouldn't drive it further. Call BMW roadside and get the car flatbed'ed to your dealer.

The puddle could simply be water from the air conditioning... I get little puddles every time I park in hot weather.

With the "stuck" DCT, I'm assuming you're sure you didn't accidentally bump it into manual?

My wife has had this experience multiple times where she's accidentally bumped it into manual and the car has been "stuck revving super high" which, of course, it turns out she was just driving 35mph in 1st gear.

Were you running A/C at the time? How could you not check to see if the puddle was oily? Any updates? I would've had my finger and nose all up in that puddle. When the tranny got stuck did you try to switch gears at all?

If you see a puddle under the car why would you not check to see if it is oil? Takes all of 5 seconds to check it And then you drive away not knowing if it was oil or water if it was oil it is obviously a problem. Sorry, don't mean to bash you but to me these are common sense things.

1: You where in Sport mode and probably was in manual shift mode (by accident?). The DCT getting "unstuck" was you changing to efficient mode and thereby overriding the manual gear change selection.

2: Puddle of water is normal if you have AC on. Then it's simply water from condensation. Surely you checked the puddle to see if it was water, fuel, oil, brake fluid...??? If it's anything but pure water; do NOT drive...

Did you try shifting up using peddle shifter?

Is that like a paddle shifter for a bike?

This. Important to know what the puddle was and also the location of it under the car, ie. was it directly under the transmission?

Thanks for the common sense tips, I know I should have checked the puddle. Not driving her again until tomorrow but I will report back; assume if it was oil I will have another one waiting for me tomorrow.

Re the DCT - Sounds like it was in manual mode, except I definitely didn't tap the paddle shifters (it's hard to do so accidentally), so that's why I mostly ruled it out. Will see if it happens again.

Everything okay?

If you accidentally tapped the gear selector to the right that would also put it in manual mode, it doesn't take much pressure. I know it sounds stupid but I have to admit I did it accidentally once or twice when I first got the car. Having driven manual cars all my life my hand just naturally gravitates towards that area.

By way of update, the puddle was clearly condensation and I'm a paranoid idiot. Thanks for all the tips there.

I am still baffled by the stuck transmission. It hasn't happened again but I do feel some seemingly dodgy shifts from the DCT every once in a while (I don't have a habit of hovering over the stick or the paddle shifters). I'm going to inquire further once I go for my 1200 mile service, but it's probably nothing.
