I'm interested if a spot opens up. I have several hundred laps of the ring and try to make it there at least every summer. I'm planning on an M3 ED. I've been so busy at work I have not had time to keep up on the forum or get a deposit in at a dealer. The last dealer I talked with in So. Cal did not want to take deposits on ED for F80/82.

My dealer told me the same thing. I had the first allocation for months then 2 weeks ago they said the first allocations would be for US deliveries only! I was livid! So I found other deals that would allow me to do an ED with one of the first allocations.
Has anyone placed an order yet? ED? |

Never mind. I see in other posts that we are looking at mid February for placing orders.
I wish we could just place our orders directly with BMW online (like Tesla) and bypass the dealers all together. |

"Anybody who has ever walked into a car dealership knows that they are all about protecting the consumer. The undercarriage rustproofing, the delivery charge, the preparation charge, the unspecified add-ons, the extra special coat of wax, these have no purpose other than protecting the consumer. And these ungrateful buyers would prefer to deal directly with the maker! Ever since this (obviously biased) survey that showed American public hated the car buying experience even more than a root canal, the poor dealerships have been subject to an unjust smear campaign. I went for a test drive of the Model S last week, and it was really pathetic. They were ready when I arrived, nobody tried to use my first name more than three times in the same sentence, we went straight to the car and drove off after a quick explanation of the controls. No small talk, no attempt to find out my budget or when I was planning to buy, it was like they were not interested in me. After we got back to the showroom, I did not get any special offer, just for today because I was such a great fit for the car. In fact they did not even try to sell me one that day. The demo person did not go check with her manager to make me a rock bottom offer. They answered all my questions, but acted like I could make a decision by myself, on my own time, without their help or pressure. It's obvious these guys don't know how to sell cars, they really need dealerships to help them and help the consumers." Now back to topic... |

I agree there is a place for dealers for some people but for most of us on these forums we only use a dealer to place our order. I have been to 3 BMW dealers and I knew more about the M4 than their "M Specialist". First dealer asked if my last name was "Dinan" when he saw the badge on my 3. The second said, "the brakes come in blue or yellow." I had to explain to him what the different colored calipers really are!
Some people need their hand held through the whole process but then there are others who know exactly what they want and the dealer is just a formality. I believe the ED is a special exception to the other 99% out there buying cars. We purchase our cars way ahead of ever seeing the actual vehicle. I would just like to have the choice of going to a dealer or doing it on my own. If BMW would go back to having ED left out of dealer allocations then we probably would not be having all of these problems with dealers. A lot of the threads in this forum are about people's frustration over their dealers: Going back on their promised allocation for ED, pricing cars way above MSRP, and being vague on when they will be able to deliver (last one I understand, nobody knows). I would have signed up for this trip months ago if I had some confidence in my dealer. Like others, I cannot plan an European vacation with a month notice. I'm now looking at August because of time off requests at work and planning a 2 week trip. I know this thread is about ED pick up but the dealers are having a HUGE say in who goes and who doesn't. I thought being first on a list was all I needed. Like others, I was wrong. Now I'm on 4 lists in 2 different states. And I still have no guarantee that I will get a car! This is getting ridiculous!!! |

Hey guys/gals...I'm late to the party but I figured I will intro myself before I start adding crazy posts about what I'm getting. I'm Terrence in Atlanta. I know I may have met some of you from the BMWCCA Nurburgring school when they did the last one 4 years ago. I'm going through euro withdrawals since I sold my GTR and took a trip to the Ring. I HAVE to get in on this euro delivery for the M3.
when I shipped my GTR overseas and had to cover the insurance and cost of getting my car there and back, although it was a great experience, I figured that I'll just do an ED to save myself some pain...and the fact that if I totaled my car or something I would have to "eat it". With that being said, I went to South Atlanta BMW to see some colors in person, as I really wanted to put eyes on how good/bad the Sakhir Orange inside and out looks.Needless to say, I'm sold, and I brought my wife back to the dealership later in the day and she confirmed it...so that's what I'm getting. Anyone else looking for that combo on ED? Also, on the options list, I see an 18inch V style wheel. Anyone know what that looks like? Not that I would want an 18 over a 19 inch wheel unless I was tracking the car exclusively. I'm just curious. |

Nobody tried to use your name more than 3 times in the same sentence? Who cares. Once is enough. Or do you just love the sound of your own name? You want small talk? Go hang out with your xgf. All dealers give a quick explanation of the controls. In fact most don't give you any explanation of the controls. That is not a Tesla specific issue. You wanted a special offer "because you're such a great fit for your car"? In other words you want a dealer to blow smoke up your ass, and have your ego stroked while they claim to be "cutting you a deal." Tesla's model is much better. They cut the middle man out (the dealer) and pass the savings directly on to the buyer, and everyone has the peace of mind of knowing that they paid the EXACT same for their car as the next person.... that they didn't get ripped off by their dealer. You have a problem with Tesla's no pressure sales method? LOL. Anyone who wants to be pressured into a sale has something fundamentally wrong with them. Educated decisions don't happen in a rush. You want to be sold in a rush? Then you're just telling me you want to be ripped off. " The undercarriage rustproofing, the delivery charge, the preparation charge, the unspecified add-ons, the extra special coat of wax, these have no purpose other than protecting the consumer." - RIGHHHHT. And by protecting the consumer you mean lining the dealers pockets with profit. Thank god for that delivery charge. It really protects us consumers !!!Thank god for the preparation charge. Tesla's making a big mistake delivering you a "prepared" car for free. If you think dealerships do what they do to protect the consumer, and not to make profit, then good luck with all your other business decisions.

Yeah, I can't tell if the quote was serious or just awesome dry sarcasm. Like I said in my post, I *HOPE* it was meant as a joke. But if whoever wrote that said it seriously... well..... refer above.
