"BMW apologies for 'ok boomer' tweet"

How about apologizing for taking a shit all over decades of design and brand history and then telling customers it's their problem?

And, yeah, it'd be a great start if mods unbanned us long-timers and moved this thread into the G80 forum - keep it as its own thread and move all looks/design criticism posts to this thread. Super easy to do mods!

Funny. BMW insulting fans who appreciate BMWs lineage, design cues and core values in engineering is really just BMW taking a giant shit on themselves. Might as well make an add criticizing its own history and what a mistake their previous cars were.

Edit: just read the post above mine as I just posted without reading. Looks like I'm not the only one seeing it that way

Builder is live on the US website. Get ready for the G8X to grace the front page again

I played around with the builder and somehow ended up at $85k, and that was for a RWD manual, AWD Comp will be close to (or above) $100k when decently optioned!

Disregard my first post, don't even need AWD to crack $100k. Got an M4 Comp RWD to $99.5 and then $107 with carbon ceramics!

I have a feeling a lot of dealer will not be optioning these up, that's just too much imo. Convertible will be even worse.

Makes me wonder. Are they pricing them through the roof in order to make the inevitable discounts look like the deal of the century? 100k M3 GTFO.

In that thread about the"driving review" video by supercar blondie, she talks about them hitting 140K! She was wrong on a lot of other things so I'm guessing she is on that one as well. But, a poster said it would me more like 120k, which they said was reasonable to them. That blows my mind that people think that. Think of all the different/better cars IMO for 120-140k than a M4 comp. I thought the same thing as one of the above poster, maybe there will be crazy discounts like teh CS ones to make people think they got a great deal. I don't know what currency she was talking about, but my guess was US$ since I think she lives in the US.

Edit: Built my M3 comp with full leather, frozen Portimao and mostly loaded for 84k. Actually not that bad. The two base interior trims suck IMO. The pricey upgrades aren't much better either. So you can't get a comp pack with a manual?

I got mine up to 85K- seems about 5% more than last gen pricing, which is not too bad.

They're not charging extra for the auto transmission. Exec package includes better headlights compared to last gen which exec package was more $$$ and you had to pay extra for headlight upgrade as a separate option. So pricing is all right, in line with other cars in its class.

She lives in Dubai or at least is what Wiki states

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexandra_Mary_Hirschi

Would explain the price difference as probably not in USD.

Fully loaded Comp is more than last gen. Even more relationship wise against the CS but it’s a mixed bag for me. The interior choices are odd. Wish they were very customizable base but looks like you might need to go Individual?

Oddly enough I showed the wife the new configurator and she likes it.
I filed for divorce an hour later

First time in my life I have no interest config'ing an M car even for fun - just so far out of my consideration set. I did see a Ferrari Roma the other day and now that's out - kinda looks like a Miata in the flesh.

Porsche is clearly moving up-market with all their sports cars but also giving you more - the 718s are moving into old 911C territory and the 911 CS into old turbo territory but in both cases they feel closer to those versions for cheaper. So depending on how you look at it, it's either too much or you're getting a deal. Probably heresy to say, but for a daily driver the Macan GTS might be the best deal out there and fairly close to an M3 in terms of daily fun and cheaper.

In any event just no way I'm getting a G8x - even at $40k I wouldn't drive one.

My 6MT F80 stickered at 81k without CCB which I was cool with.

But look at what CS's went for and they think the new ones are going to sell for anywhere near a 100k?!

Found a good laugh on the G8X forums. This post was in the configurator thread, this guy can't be serious.

My current 2018 M3, full individual with Grigio Medio and Nutmeg, came out to 89k MSRP. All options minus CCBs.

I have a hard time thinking the new M3/M4 can hit 130k+. There is NO way I will pay that much for that car.

I was getting to the colors and I couldn't even make it past the interior on the configurator because of either how boring or terrible the options are.

However, finally getting ventilated seats as an option is nice! It's about damn time and that's about the only feature I want.

I'm with Gruss. I have ZERO interest in building/playing around with the configurator. The G8x is a disaster as far as I'm concerned. The interior is cool. That's it.

I'm pretty Aggravated with BMW for pulling this move. They have a large lineup of cars and there isn't one (after the M2CS ends production) that I can see myself buying/leasing.

If I had the means I would go 992 Turbo and never look back.

I'm aggravated about being banned for a month, plus the G8x forum. All for being one of the first to voice my disdain on the G8xs hideous design and insulting market appeal. People have echoed much worse since then, nothing like a little hostile censorship to finish off a polarizing year.

Saving my pennies right now . The lineup is mid luxury mass market with no real dedication to their motorsport heritage. The pressure on BMW is mounting; see the recent C&D Top Cars list; not a BMW in sight unless you count the Toyota Supra collaboration. The pressure from shareholders to push top line revenue and shave costs is going to show up in more shared platforms and less bespoke (think motorsport) designs.

https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...8/10best-2021/

Even the slight mentions of BMW hint of where the brand is at now.

https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...21-contenders/

Going to enjoy my F8x for the next few years with mods and just ride off into the sunset to Porsche (slight possibility on the M2cs but again, its slight).

I just want to give ppl some ideas on the ridiculousness of the pricing BMW is throwing at us. As I been studying up on Porsche cars more recently.

A extremely well optioned 718 GT4/Speedster is 130k. I optioned mine into 135k. A 718 GTS (the LCI one w/ the NA Flat Six) is 86k MSRP with no options. A Carrera S (992) is usually optioned about 140k - 150k give or take.

As soon as any BMW car hits that sort of price range, the BMW is far out of it's league in terms of what the customer will ask for. The reason why so many of us love BMW in the past is, they are affordable for most but has the performance that comes close enough to a Porsche. As soon as that cost balloons into this silly price range, all the reason why we should consider BMW is gone.

The Top 10 doesn't even mention the X3, X4, X5, the 5 series.

718 Cayman/Boxster is at 22 streak. It didn't even include the GT4/Speedster, apparently those cars are above the pricing. Porsche Macan, Mazda CX-5 and Kia Telluride beat out everything BMW had. Those BMW SUVs didn't even get mentioned once as potential, at least Benz did.

The Genesis GV80 is barely out and it won something?
