That has nothing to do with our discussion about how certain colors articulate the lines of a car better than others. Two separate things!

MW is the best color, really emphasizes the lines of the car. Definitely digging the sedan

I also note, as a photographer, that the Mineral White pics were taken with a telephoto which foreshortens the car and makes it look more aggressive. That being said, they both look nice and if you need the practicality of 4 doors, the F80 is more successful than the E90 in appearance.
Interesting point, and I believe that is what gives the rear of the sedan its magic. The coupe is smoother, which gives it a plump/bloated look. The 'less integrated' design of the F80 is a styling cue that I've always loved on the E46/E9X cars.

I can somewhat see where you're going with this. The M3 does look a bit more dissimilar from the F30 than the M4 does from the F32.

There are obviously others that feel that their opinion of a car (i.e., the M4) are not made any better by color (i.e., "regardless of color"), even if certain ones do highlight/emphasize lines better than others. This is solely because they don't like the proportions & lines of a car. Regardless of color, the lines/proportions remain unchanged.

Makeup & highlights can only go so far on a butterface!

I wish this guy crossed the street and snapped some shots with the sun behind him. I bet the MW would have popped pretty good on the drivers side profile.

I can appreciate that viewpoint. The sedan's fenders look more like a widebody "mod".

I can definitely see that as well, especially the msport rear of the 435. The 4 variants seem much more closely related than the 3.

I am more a coupe kinda guy and had my eyes set on the M4. But after seeing these pics of the M3 compared to the SSII M4 in the other thread, I am now seriously considering going for a 4dr M3 instead. Man, is it gorgeous .

I think it is the haunches that doesn't do it for me on the M4. It looks like it has a fat ass, not a wide stance. The fender flares on the M3 look so much better. I guess I will need to wait to see them in person. Maybe I should make a road trip to Detroit this coming Jan .

I do prefer the M4 however, I totally agree with this statement. I wish the M4 had the same ASS as the M3. The tucked in body with the fender flares is much more attractive than the "bloated" rear of the M4.

I think this is a very important point. The M4 pics seem to have been shot with a mobile phone with a wide angle/fish eye lens, which changes the proportion of the car.

M3 vs m4

I think it's a case of different strokes for different folks.. I need a sedan and am programmed to like the 4 door better... But the coupe looks good too... If everyone liked only one thing, we would only need one bodystyle.. Actually only one automaker at that
