Haven't taken the car out since then, but even if they squeak i'll be leaving them in as it doesnt really bother me. The time spent changing pads on the e90 also isn't worth it particularly as I have 2 more events in July.

Other added benefits are the RE71s are pretty good daily driver tires and they work in the rain. And they don't cause hearing loss. |

It's -3.0 front, I don't remember the toe but I can post my alignment settings. It seemed like a little too much but I did not bother taking temperature readings or anything. It's a fast time but I was not expecting that on the second event with the CS and with 255/275 RE71s that have 4 days on them. |

NJMP--Thunderbolt (w/ chicane):
1:39.73, DVC, 335i (RE-71R, PFC08, Ohlins R&T, stock N55) I ran with BMW CCA this past weekend at Thunderbolt. Haven't been there in a few years, so it was great to get back out on a fun local track. The car felt great, but my data/video logging was problematic once again... seems like either data or video capture doesn't work properly on far too many of my best sessions!! I think it's time to upgrade to either an AiM or VBOX system. The laps below were from the first day in the Advanced run group, which had some slower cars, which impacted the flow... these two laps were among the best I actually have both video and data for. The 1:39.73 noted above was logged in RaceChrono while running with the instructors on day 2 - unfortunately my GoPro battery died in the beginning of the session, so I only have data for most of this session. In terms of the track layout, it seems that the other Thunderbolt videos in this thread are all on the track configuration without a chicane. Perhaps we can add a second Thunderbolt layout to the list WITH chicane, as BMW CCA almost always runs with it, and it typically adds about 3-5 seconds to lap times.

The Aim Solo DL (version 1 or 2) is excellent, not too expensive and gives you data you can easily compare with other forum members. Highly recommended!

Catching up
I have 3 posts for 3 tracks, apologies it's taken so long.
First off we're at VIR Grand Course (Lightning Lap layout), on November 2nd 2018. Temp in the mid 60s if I recall. 2018 M3 ZCP, 6sp manual, GC camber plates at -2.6, PFC08, Nitto NT01 275/305 on 18" rims. Best time 3:03.82 in the second session of the day. Went out in the 3rd session and started to get in the groove, and then I took a really creative line through the uphill esses and bent my 2 right wheels, clicked the camber plates out of alignment and severed the EDC connector at the top of the shock for good measure. Chassis malfunction and some interesting out of sync vibrations made for a hasty retreat. Sorry, no videos. General comments: the 2018 ZCP was immediately faster out of the box than the 2015 I had before. Better suspension, more linear power delivery etc. I'll say this, it's very hard to beat the times set up by C&D at LL. First, because only one outfit does the Grand course and only once per year, so it's hard to practice. Second, because the laps are really long so you don't get many per session. Third, because the event is packed. And finally, because the infield is a real bitch to learn. But I'm sure this year I'll beat the 3:00 they recorded there in an M3. Stay tuned.

Next, Summit Point Main in WV.
April 12, 2019. Temp in the high 60's and low 70's. 2018 M3 ZCP, stick, GC plates at -2.6, PFC08 and Nitto 275/305 on 18" rims. This time, with CS settings for suspension, ABS, diff, steering. Stock ZCP engine map. Best time, 1:26.79. This is a really lousy time. I was there just 1 day, in a group that was running a bit ragged, after at least 10 years of absence from that track. It shows - my virtual best lap was 1:20, so if I had been able to string together my best sectors and had a clear track, I'd have a more worthy time. Still, this was the time and that's what I roll with. I'll go back there for a full 2 day this year...

Finally, fast forward to June 3/4 at VIR Full Course.
Temp in the 80's and 90's, clear blue skies. 2018 M3 ZCP, 6 sp, GC plates at -2.6, PFC08, same Nitto 275/305 from last year. Fronts were going out. CS settings for everything, including CS engine map, plus rev matching in Sport+. Intermediate High group, solo. Best time was on June 4th, 2:10:35. This is my PB here, beating the previous one by more than 2 seconds. I'm really pleased with this result, came after deciding to start looking farther ahead and rotating the car more in the slower corners. I think with a fresh set of fronts, 2:09's are easily achievable and even 2:08s, but I'm not sure I could do better than that without some additional instruction. This was with Chin motorsports, good disciplined drivers in general. Nonetheless, next time I'll sign up for the Advanced group because managing slower traffic took a lot of fun out of the sessions. Similar drivers in my group in nice track machinery (GT4, Mustang 350, SS Camaro) were putting out times in the 2:08-2:10 range for reference. They were very surprised the M3 kept up, probably due to the bad press our cars have gotten through the years. Car felt great, unburstable, and I no longer got creative in the esses, in fact I'm now comfortable with the line I have, going in at anywhere between 125-130mph indicated. Brakes were perfect. Anecdotal encounters in a straight line, back straight from 30-160mph - GT4 is a bit slower - SS Camaro is slower (faster initially and then catching up at higher speed) - GT3 is a bit faster but not by a huge amount - GT3 RS is quite a bit faster I'm getting to a point where most machinery that is faster comes on a trailer. Which is great if you have an off, so I am not sure I'll find the courage to push a lot more. I think professional instruction will be mandatory if I'm to jump over the next plateau.
