DIY 10" subwoofer install
Hey guys, this is my first official post. I am just beginning to add some flavor to my M4. I had the M door projectors put on first along with swapping out my front and side grill to match the gloss black roof. The next project was to enhance the sound quality of the music that pounds from my factory speakers.
I dabbled back in college with fiberglass sub enclosures and even managed to fabricate a custom ipad mount into the dash of my former car, 05 mustang gt. So after reviewing a few of the posts here I convinced myself it was time to start a new project. Below I have pics of the process. If you would like me to go into detail on the how to, let me know and I will make a full post with instructions etc. The box looks huge in the pics but thats only because I needed a lot of volume for the subwoofer. It's not that big in person. Might I add that I am extremely impressed with the results. For only having a single 10" subwoofer in the vehicle it hits HARD! Sounds amazing. And there is zero rattle from the trunk when you hear the music outside the vehicle. In fact, you can hardly even hear the music outside the vehicle when its about 70%. I secured the sub to the corner of the trunk with velcro. Believe it or not, it holds very well. That's saying a lot considering the way it hit some of the corners lol. I also wanna give a shoutout to the member Technic for creating an awesome wiring harness which made the install super easy. |

Thanks man .. Check out Musicar as the comment below yours suggested ... They have some good ones that will fit your vehicle. I just choose to build my own because I would rather save a few bucks lol.

Looks good brotha. I'm planning on doing a 12" in the floor cubby. Magnet fits a little snug in the whole, but I think it'll be ok raised a few inches.

Excellent work.
I did see a couple of previous installs like you say you did to, I'm now really thinking about making an enclosure myself and dropping in my old JL Audio sub and amp. So would you post up more details please about the connections and anything else relevant to anyone wishing to build/instal themselves. thanks Baz

If you don't mind raising the height of the enclosure then you should be ok .. Just make sure you have enough volume in the box for the size 12 you want. I've seen 2 10's put in that space but they used the truck subs that have the very small magnets and require little volume. I personally like the stealth look and would have preferred that. My sub however required too much volume and I didnt want to sacrifice trunk space.

Sure thing, I will do a full write up ... I forgot to take pictures during certain parts of the install but I will try to be detailed so you can still follow. |

what kind of fabric did you use to make it match? I know some of the guys that run meth would probably like to build something like this to hid/enclose the meth tank.
