Exclamation Ed: Do Not Remove Usb Stick

DO NOT TAKE out USB stick where your euro maps are. The maps will not come back on and you will have to go to a dealership to get your euro maps back on iDrive. Road side assistance will not give you remote access either. Luckily @soccerdad was able to guide me to Frankfurt but it took me almost 2 hours to get out of the city and headed to Geneva. After speaking to a dealership I found out that they need to reprogram your car and that it will take 16 hours (!!!) I'll be without navi for the rest of my ED. and will just use maps the old school way.

Note: My delivery specialist told me that I can take the stick out and plug it back in no problem but that my previous destinations will go away.

BUHAHAHA, quote of the morning!

In my house it's the other way around. I fucking hate navs with passion, and the spouse of course loves them. The most annoying thing in the world I know is when he actually puts on cars and phones navs to run at the same time, to compare them. I go insane. Completely new levels of road rage.

Glad I could help, specially saving your marriage lol. The solution is simply to get one of those usb car chargers and plug it into the cigarette lighter, also make sure to inspect your car, some ppl from the group had glue residue on their backseats, one guy in our group also has some dashboard interior part from a 3 series sport (black piano and red trim) on the left side of the steering wheel, while the rest of the car is carbon fiber/ gloss black trim

So how does one plug in the phone to listen to music in the vehicle if the only usb port is taken by the European maps? I know bluetooth is a option but does that work in the vehicle if the phone does not have a cellular signal?

Yes bluetooth works just fine without reception as long as bluetooth is turned on on your cell phone

Sense I'm always between Europe and the states I have 2 iPhones. One I use back stateside an one that I use over here that I now hav a SIM card for in Spain Germany France and Korea lol. It's unlocked so wherever I am I buy a prepaid sim.

Bluetooth works without cellular service. You can Bluetooth connect a regular iPad in the car. I did in my 1 series. Also haven't had the pleasure of laying eyes on a real f80 yet but if its like the e82s and e90s there's 2 USB ports. One in the center console and one in the upper left corner of glove box.

Powaup, is that a 12V plug or usb plug?

Also, what happened when you unplugged your USB and plugged it back in, did it ask for a code?

First time i plugged it out and plugged it back in I was asked for a code.. then after 15 minutes of driving the maps came back.. then a few hours later i fill my tank up as I'm ready to drive to Frankfurt then as I take off maps are gone and I am asked for a code.. I've asked for the code but no help

Bring along something to wipe off bugs off the bumper and windshield. I wish I had something right now to do so as I am using a sponge and hot water and it's pretty tough (scared to damage the paint)

some advice: if you a renting a car before your delivery you should consider getting it from Europcar, there is an office right next to the Welt where you could drop the rental off.

The Leonardo hotel is a bit far but do-able but the best hotel to stay in for location is the four points by sheraton hotel

Also, Taxi from the airport to the Welt is 70 euros FYi
