No next generation M3 sedan (F30)???? Poll.
I'm really bummed by that Automobile MAG report. I was really hoping that in a few years time, I would be able to fulfil my dream of having a M3 sedan as I love the idea of having a car that can perform well in the track and also seat 4&1/2 or 5 people comfortably. And no, I dont like SUV's.
From automobile mag article: Quote:
(Translation: "We've made a big mistake. We should let the ugly GT be scrapped and begin immediately with the manufacture of the M3 Sedan''.) I hope that report is untrue. I know that we won't be able to change the decision but it's better to try then to never attempt at it and make our voices heard. I'm sure that many people will vote to have a M3 sedan And I'm also hoping this article is false BTW, can someone tell me if the current M3 sedan is doing well in the 'sales' department or not?? I'm just wondering why BMW is doing this! Last edited by OBI_agent; 06-23-2010 at 07:30 AM.. Reason: A mistake edited by the help of Kerosene Hat |

I see a lot of M3 E90s on the street, it has to be doing well. I'm interested in some numbers though.

To me it seems as though the m3 sedan sells well enough, but then again it would make sense from BMW to stick the M3 to the coupe and have the M5 be the performance sedan option. I'd still take an M3 sedan with a built i-6 TT at 450hp. Got to bring my son to school in style

1) I think a M5 will never be able to handle like a M3 sedan.. It's like Cayman S vs Carrera. 2) Not everyone can afford a M5 (90K). And at the picking up son quote. This is such a coincidence. For the future, I wanted a quick sedan to pick my niece from her school.

Sedan sales have no been doing well. Common sense dictates if sedans were selling like hotcakes, they would make one for the next generation. If you search over on M3post, you should be able to find some hard data.
By the way, would cares if you see quite a few sedans rolling around your neighborhood. We're talking world wide, not just one city. Kinda like people think that ever 335 owner is a member of this website. Ridiculous.

This was expected because BMW always skips a generation with the M3 Sedan:
E30 - No E36 - Yes E46 - No E90 -Yes F30 - No Follow-on gereration - Yes (?)

I like the E90 M3 A LOT. Like someone else mentioned earlier you can still have ///M performance in a sedan that's smaller, lighter, and cheaper than the M5.

The E30 came before the E36 though.

+1. The M5 has never been a real alternative to the M3 Sedan anyway. The M3 is more of an ALMS GT series car (even the E90) while the M5 is more of a high speed autobahn cruiser.
The M3 Sedan will almost certainly be back again (when the F30 platform is replaced circa 2019).
