We have had a several claims with work performed by an Audi dealer. Fidelity always seems to send an inspector when work is needed, but also have always covered it to date. Total claims covered are around 3x what we paid in (discounted) premiums and we still have a year of coverage remaining. The warranty has worked out pretty well for us.

She just quoted me $4400 to extend my CPO by one year or $8300 (!!) to extend by two years. (2015 M4)

That doesn't seem like a good deal at all

whatever she quoted you, if you talked to Checa direct and told her your a forum members is almost at cost. BMW warranties are NOT cheap, they also recently raised the price on them again across the board If you think there may have been a mistake you can shoot me a pm and I can double check for you no problem. You have to talk to Checa direct to get the discount though any of our other guys are not authorized to do discounted quotes. She has been in Maui all last week but should be back today or tomorrow.

***just talked to Checa, I think you may have not gone through her? either way she said the CPO wraps are WAY more then an ESC platinum which is crazy but super expensive. Either way you can shoot Checa a email direct if that is easier fortiz@stevethomasbmw.com

I know fidelity always sends out an inspector for all claims regardless of value. Any idea if easycare does the same?

Thanks.

For the ones that mentioned Geico's MBI, Thank you. You guys made me realize back in October of 2018 that I still had that coverage. Literally helped me save $10K from a DSC Failure on my F30. Well worth it for the ones that are considering it.

So am down to deciding between Fidelity and Easycare. Below are the best quotes I got....

The big difference is the Fidelity mileage starts from the day you buy the extended warranty vs Easycare warranty is for total mileage. I feel that the Easycare terms are purposely written this way to confuse the buyer.

2015 - 2019 BMW M3 with 10,001 - 25,000 miles
Deductible: $250

Fidelity Platinum - Mileage and Time starts from day you buy the warranty.
Years Mileage Cost
3yr/ 36k- $2,495
4yr/ 48k- $3,572
5yr/ 60k- $4,438
5yr/ 75k- $4,937
6yr/ 60k- $4,948
6yr/ 72k- $5,441

EasyCare Totalcare - Mileage is Total and Time starts from day you buy the warranty.

Years Mileage Cost
3yr/ 75k- $3,297
3yr/ 85k- $3,372
4yr/ 75k- $3,709
4yr/ 85k- $3,891
5yr/ 60k- $3,571
5yr/ 75k- $3,799
6yr/ 60k- $3,641
6yr/ 75k- $3,946

The tricky thing here is with EasyCare as their mileage is calculated as total and not from when you buy the warranty so when considering Easycare the return on your investment (if you want to call it that) will vary depending on your mileage when you buy the warranty. The lower the mileage, the more the return.

To make this easier to understand and compare I assumed 25k mileage when buying the warranty and adjusted the Easycare term accordingly so it will show how much extra mileage I have from the day I buy it.This makes it a more fair comparison to Fidelity (see below).

EasyCare Totalcare - Mileage is Total and Time starts from day you buy the warranty.

Years Mileage Cost
3yr/ 50k- $3,297
3yr/ 60k- $3,372
4yr/ 50k- $3,709
4yr/ 60k- $3,891
5yr/ 35k- $3,571
5yr/ 50k- $3,799
6yr/ 35k- $3,641
6yr/ 50k- $3,946

So when I look at it like this with my car being at 23k miles and given how many miles I drive in a year, all other things like coverage equal, Fidelity definitely makes more sense for me from a cost perspective. Am leaning towards the 3yr/36k mile one from Fidelity.

If I have an M3 instead of an M4, I would probably go with Fidelity. For whatever reason, the cost on M4 is a lot higher than M3.

Btw, your decision definitely makes sense since you only go for 3 years. For people who want to opt for longer warranty, the price from EasyCare looks better, even though Fidelity probably is a better company.

I moved out of Upper Kensington back in 1990. Not a great place to live. Still love the birds!

The names posted in the thread. Travis Shaw for easycare and Troy Dietrich for fidelity. Do a thread search with those names and their info will come up.

Am west of Philly in West Chester. Were you at the BMW of mainline C&C today?

Price with higher deductibles. Otherwise, I’d think about going without or moving on to another car. Those Fidelity Platinum prices make me nauseous. In 2014, we paid $2,375 for the Fidelity Platinum on my wife’s Audi Q5 to extend for 5 years beyond manufacturer’s warranty. It’s a 2012 placed in service in 2011 and we still have one more year of warranty left. Deductible is $250. I can understand the M being more expensive but those prices are rough.

You are likely better off with platinum level / exclusionary coverage with higher deductible than more restrictive coverage with lower deductible.

Hello, I am purchasing a used m3, I was wondering what extended warranty most people go with. Is it worth purchasing if the car has 20-30k miles on it already? Thanks

Honestly, it's a tough decision either way. I struggled with it for months before I finally decided to go with an extended warranty through my local BMW dealer. The warranties are not cheap, I paid a little over $4k for the extended warranty through 4/1/23, and like 88k miles (my car only has 35k right now, no way I'd ever get close to the mileage limit).

For me, I had to decide if I wanted to tune the car or not. I've always been a tinkerer, and it's been pretty tough for me to leave the potent S55 unmolested now for two years since I've purchased the car. Instead, I put the mod money into interior pieces, carbon bits, wheels/tires, and KW V3s. The final decision I made is that the car is fast enough in stock form (certainly enough for public roads!), so making it faster while increasing the chances of a spun crank hub just wasn't worth it for me.

I also decided I love the car so much, that I plan on keeping it for at least a few more years. Had I been on the fence about keeping the car, I doubt I would have gone with the warranty. These cars are proving to be incredibly reliable by any manufacturer's standards, I personally think they might be the most reliable ///M cars ever produced.

In the end however, I'm a worrier at heart and hate unforeseen issues. For me the $4k was worth the peace of mind, I can drive the car around however I like without worry of being stuck with a huge repair bill if something were to go wrong.

Good luck!

OP if you are interested in a BMW ext warranty at a big discount (most dealers dont discount at all and some even mark up) you can shoot our peeps a buzz. BMW warranties are expensive though, no arguing that

If you plan to keep the vehicle for long period then you should get the extended warranty through BMW, I would not go with third party.
