Do the new black seat emblems crack like the old silver ones did?

Going to have the emblem replaced again tomorrow for the second time on my 15 F80. Wondering if the newer black emblems are starting to have the same issue since these have been out for awhile now.

Anyone care to chime in?

Mine got replaced recently with the standard ones. But the dealer left the plastic on them for me after they installed them. Hopefully that will help

I'm pretty sure there is a huge thread on here about this. The black ones shouldn't crack but your dealer isn't likely to upgrade you... although some have. My dealer said they would fix my silver ones but it's not worth the time for me to take the car in and have to deal with them.

They should order them for you, so when you have a free couple hours one day, they can do it for you

In the shop now, of course they don't have them in stock, Overnighted. But won't replace with the black ones.

Told them to leave the plastic on and I contacted my clear bra installer to get some film to wrap them.

BMW this is a terrible design flaw. Oh well

This is true. I kept my the factory film on my passenger one and it still looks like death valley. Oh, and I rarely have a passenger.

So are these actually available for purchase? My dealer told me they could not be ordered yet when I tried to get my cracked silver ones with these, this was only like a week ago...

Got mine replaced under warranty. Asked for black was told they weren't available but they would try and get them when they are and replace on their dime. Won't hold my breath for that.

Also my invoice says $400 for the silver ones which is highway robbery.

For an M4 they are available here but they don't have M3 backrest trim and they don't have them in stock either. I placed an order Thursday and my status is "On order" currently.

I think that's reasonable price if that includes installation.

When I asked dealer, it was 3 hours job. Requires taking back panel out to unplug harness front the back and assemble again.
I would totally go to your dealer to buy and install!

Darn it, I guess they are just not available to even purchase for the M3 yet I guess... My dealer will install them for free if I can source the black emblems but looks like that is not an option for now until who knows when.

BMWPartspros told me they're available to order (and I just ordered them).
I double check they're BLACK M3 seat trims. Let's see what comes to my door step.

Have they shipped yet? Mine are still on order from GetBMWparts.

Edit: Just checked my order status it is still on order. However, they do have the M3 black emblems available to order now too.

FWIW my dealer called yesterday and said they got the black ones and will swap them for my silver ones (which they already replaced a couple weeks ago). Good people.
