Keep the receipt and give to BMW to pay for the repair. I would still fight it.

Ah no it's not. If that were the case then there would be a lot of threads about it.

Take BMW NA to small claims court to reimburse.

Use the repairman who gave you quote as witness.

They will probably pay it off to avoid showing up as their attorney fees will be much higher than the cost.

If this is a manufacturing fault you'd imagine many cars would be affected. It's understandable in an isolated case that BMW may consider it's an environmental issue with that particular car.

We'd have a drama with BMW here in Australia after the 3 year warranty expired without technical evidence of a manufacturing defect.

I've called BMWNA 3 times they said they will log my complaint. That's is.

That's not normal. Don't listen. Some cars went through winter...snow and shine. Never Seen carbon pealing like that, It's either something went wrong from the factory, or someone used some cleaning product on it, and sun will fade this out, seen it on EVO8, 9s (center CF wing Part) people would clean them with something and sunny days, would bake that and it would start peeling.

Try a different dealership. I can't imagine any dealer seeing that and telling a customer thats not covered under warranty with a straight face. Either that or there has to be some back story to this because there isn't any other car posted on here with this carbon roof issue.

As an update and to answer some of the previous questions. I tried talking to multiple dealers and BMW collision centers and all declined to fix the roof.

New positive update. I was able to speak to the service manager and he agreed to have a new BMW representative look at the peeling roof. Within a minute the BMW rep verbally agreed that the roof needed to be replaced and that it should be covered under the warranty.

My next step is to send proof of my original request to have the roof peeling fixed back in October of 2018. I'll keep you all in the loop.

If they agreed that it should be replaced under warranty, why do you need to prove your original request?

Because the car is now out of warranty by about a month, I needed to proof that I tried to fix it while it was under warranty.

Just because you are a month out of warranty - that Doesn't mean BMW isn't liable.

That roof was faulty from purchase and is not normal in these cars exposed to quite extreme sun and temps. It didn't just start deteriorating when the warranty ended.

You need to interact with BMW directly and try to find a BMW owned major dealership.

That Should be fixed.

Just park your car outside the dealership and let customers know what happened and that BMW won't fix it.

You'll get a resolution quick smart
